Fencing Club - Salle, After Classes Monday

Again Edmund was in early and setting up for the club. He waited for everyone to arrive before addressing them. "Using a sword rarely comes naturally. You have to put effort into it, but you also have to work at your own pace to learn the fundamentals. If you want to practice the footwork drills from last week, please move over to my left and have at it. Experienced swordsmen...women...people," he fumbled, "who wish to use the time to spar head down the back. Everyone else will be practising a few defence exercises. We'll get to the attacking part next week."

Edmund demonstrated a few defence drills. "There you have it. If you need me to run through them with you, wave me over."

Algren was there, keeping an eye on those who decided that they might like to spar, today. He trusted Edmund to keep the beginners from impaling themselves on training swords, but where there was sparring, there was almost always ego, and a dangerous amount of that had no place happening on his watch.

Fiona showed up of course, and resolved herself to try and be social today.

These were more for defence than she was really used to, which made them interesting. Fiona did the drills with gusto and a small smile.

Turtle was wondering if she was re-energized enough to take on some fencing, but she knew her own limits and decided she'd just take it easy today.

Defense was....defense was good. Turtle focused on the drills and trying to get them right, not only paying attention to Edmund's demonstrations but also keeping an eye on everyone else to see how they were doing them, too.

Emma was there, and ready to get a work-out today. Hopefully someone would be willing to spar.

Azula crossed her arms and she studied the other people in the club before she turned her attention to Edmund and listened.

Lion-o was in a pretty good mood and looking forward to doing some more drills.

Dinah was ready for another spar this afternoon, bouncing on her toes, and looking around.

Dinah was there practicing her footwork, step-step-lunge, and ready to stop and spar if anyone was up for it.

Ellie was there and ready to try some more drills. She knew she was not quite ready to try sparring, yet.

Ellie paid close attention to the demonstration before attempting to try them herself.

Cough syrup is not the flavor of cherries. Cough syrup is the fake taste of disgusting.

There was grace to the drills but Azula noted that the popular sword work of the West did not include the whole body during a fight. There were no kicking nor punching just reliance on the blade.

It was not a philosophy Azula was used to.

"Prince Edmund," Azula walked up to him, practice sword in hand.

Rose was coming directly from her afternoon training session again so she arrived a little late. But that did not deter her from being there. And mingling.

"Fiona," Azula said, nodding to the other girl.

"Apologies, King Edmund," she said, correcting herself easily. "If you have time, I would like to speak to you about the different sword work styles of our countries."

Mmm, drills. Rose worked through them intently, the formality so very different from what she'd worked with before.
