Library [09/17]

Sam had stopped for coffee and breakfast this morning, so he was totally alert by the time he got to the library. Whether this would translate to him doing active work, or if he'd just read more, was anyone's guess.

"Well I don't know about fun but I guess it'll look good on college applications," he said. Chuck knew non-legacies needed all the help they could get. "Between you and Jean I've got quite an in with the student government now, don't I?"

"Yeah, I guess you do," Sam said, laughing. "And yeah, it'll look good on applications and scholarship forms, just like everything else I do."

"I think that if I wanted to go to college I'd abuse my wealth and privilege to get in," Chuck decided. "Seems a whole lot easier."

"Well, that's an option for you, but not for the rest of us," Sam said, pausing for a moment in realization. "What do you mean if you want to go to college?"

Chuck raised an eyebrow. "Why would I go? I've already got a job set out for me. Nepotism is hard at work here."

"You're going to do that without going to college?" Sam asked.

"Well...yeah," Chuck said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Trust me, real estate is way more about dealing with people and using common sense than being book smart. Look at Donald Trump. He's a complete dumbass. Granted, he raised a fine looking daughter who can put her legs behind her head, but, still, a dumbass. And yet he's rich as hell."

Not as rich as the Basses but still, he had a skyscraper and everything.

"Pretty much," Chuck said, shrugging. "What's wrong with that? Plenty of people do it."

"There's nothing wrong with it. I just imagined you taking for more years of parties and carefree living," Sam admitted.

"You don't think you'll be too busy?" Sam asked. "Wait, of course you won't be, you're Chuck Bass."

"Exactly. I run two bars now and still have plenty of time to do what I want," he said. "Besides, my father always found time for extracurriculars. You should have seen how many girlfriends he paraded around before deciding to marry Lily."

"Shit, Sam, I've been on gossip blogs since I was fourteen," he said. "Try googling my name once if you've got an afternoon to spare."

"Are you kidding me? The worse I act, the more hits they get on the blog," Chuck said. "They effing love me. Gossip Girl is the only one that gets bitchy from time to time but I might very well know her-slash-him so it could be personal."
