Swordplay - 3rd Period - 9/17

A big fan of the handwaving, despite not being a Jedi, Deadpool was in ye olde Danger Shop with more than just a few neato wooden sticks that you get at anime conventions. Though he didn't get his there.

...okay, only two of them. But it was a good deal, okay?

"Okay, so today we're talking about where you kooky kids are at on the skill level so you don't end up like a wee baby kitten up against a rabid Doberman. Not pretty. Believe you me."

Let's just say that was a very bad trip to Guatemala.

"So you get to smack around these hand-dandy dummies who are not at all dressed up like anyone in particular!" Who wouldn't believe a face like that? C'mon now! "So, get crackin' on this so we can start pairing you folks up next week for my own personal Thunderdome."

A beat.

"I'll need a Tina, of course."

Deadpool, stop eying Zack.

"Zack, Arthur. This Saturday in the non-fancy gym in town because someone isn't allowed on campus because it's creepy or something. Anyone who wants to watch fun fighty times is welcome to come along and bring popcorn."

"To be fair, you did hit it pretty hard," Triela pointed out. She might also have suggested that hitting things that hard was inefficient in addition to being overkill, but she didn't know Illyria yet, and decided that might be a bad idea.

"That wasn't hard," Illyria said, still mildly disgusted. "I was holding back because I didn't care to destroy it." She'd been doing that a lot lately; the frustration might be taking its toll.

"Oh." Triela cocked her head slightly. "But you broke it anyway."

Yes. Thank you, Captain Obvious.

"I'm... still becoming familiar with this body." Understatement of the millennium, ahoy.

"Oh, so it's not your original one?" Triela could sympathize with that. It had taken her months to master fine motor control when she'd started at the Agency.

And then, as if to make a point, her newly-replaced left hand spasmed.

Illyria's stare focused there for a moment, then up to Triela's face again. "It's less than what I once was, but still stronger than most of the creatures here."

"Are you having trouble with fine motor control? Precision stuff? Or is it just strength? Because I used to have a lot of problems with tiny stuff."
bitchy_smurf: (curious)

And again there was the slightly-disturbing-to-most-people tilt of Illyria's head. "This body knows small things. How to hold a pencil or a..." Yes, thank you for that pushy, overwhelming sense-memory. "Taco. Those memories came with the shell." Among too many others. "And I know strength; it's the holding back of strength in battle--" She lifted the broken stick. "--that I had no need to learn before now."

"Oh." Triela considered that, then nodded. "I kind of learned it all at once, so I guess I probably don't have any decent advice."

The body in front of her seemed human, if perhaps a little... off. Then again what lay inside her own was hardly what the outside seemed to be. "Were you not born to that body, then?"

"Not most of it," Triela shrugged. "There are some original parts, but most of them are replacements." She held out her left arm and turned it over. "I got this one replaced last weekend."
bitchy_smurf: (considering - down)

Illyria bent her head to study it, not that there was much to be seen from the outside besides the same subtle difference in temperature or energy that the girl gave off in general. "Your body is artificial? Or merely made up of parts that once belonged to others?" Not that she knew anything about that.

Re: Hit Things!

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-09-18 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Artificial. It allows for more power and endurance than simple substitution." It was also technologically possible where she was from, which contributed to the decision to use it instead of things that couldn't be done.
bitchy_smurf: (hmm)

"Interesting." She wasn't pondering robot bodies the size of of a giant squid, not at all.

Of course not. That would be rather impractical.

Triela simply shrugged. That was just how things were for her.
