Library [09/12]

There were flowers on the desk when George got to the library, but he ignored them.  He was a man, dammit, not a girly flower person.

So pay no attention to the fact that after spending an hour making sure all the books were shelved and all that, he was checking the pots to make sure they had enough water and everything.  No dead flowers on his girly flower person watch.

"Nothin'," he said, shrugging. "Most o' them in th' Lower City don' go t'school after they're 12. Too much else t'do, aye? Have t'learn their trade."

"I'm going to be a teacher." And then die a lot. "So I can teach at the school I went to before here."

Well, you can't go to college to learn how to die a lot. That takes natural talent.

"If you don't, it's not actually teaching." It was talking at kids. Which, as we all know, is totally different.

"Okay then."

That was the nice way of saying 'you are totally crazy, lass, but you're pretty so I won't say it.'

"But ye already know where you'll teach," George said, actually confused now. "Won't they be knowin' what ye can do? So th' paper doesn't do anything."

"No more school," George said, making a face. "Tisn't much point in it, for me."

Maybe people'll take you seriously when you're not 14, George.

"Th' Lower City," he corrected. And tried to make it more sense. "There's always a lad or a lass who runs it, aye? Watches over all them that make a livin' by their wits. Makes sure even th' poorest have food in winter, and keeps th' order."

While thieving and bribing the Provost's Guard, sure.
