Ethics Class [Thursday, September 10, 1st period]

"Today we discuss lying," Anakin said as he closed the classroom door precisely on time. "Everyone lies. 'Of course that doesn't make your butt look big.' 'You like her, I like her.' 'I'm totally okay with you moving on.' 'Everything's fine, why do you ask?' It's how the world goes around because no one wants to be trapped in a conversation where someone whines at you for hours on end about how awful their life is."

He looked around the room. "Trust me. Everyone's life is terrible. They're just not telling you about it. Be grateful."

He reached onto his desk for a piece of paper. "Today we're conducting an exercise to see how well you pass this particular social ritual, then we'll discuss whether you think it is necessary. We're playing two truths and a lie. I'll tell you three things about myself and you have to decide which one is the falsehood. Then you'll all tell three things and we'll see how well you can either read each other or keep things hidden."

He gave them a small smile. "I'm very good at this." He schooled his face to absolute neutrality, put his mental blocks up to bar any psychics in the room from gaining an advantage, then recited: "During a war at home I was known as 'The Hero Without Fear.' I have three children. I am the youngest Jedi ever to join the Jedi Council, which governed my Order." His eyes challenged them to call him out. "Who's next?"

How come Katchoo always got stuck playing this game in class? So awkward.

"My best friend's in this class," she said, wondering how many people would think it was insane that she even had a best friend. "I've never gotten married on a cruise ship, and, uh . . . geez. I've never been to Chicago."

Gawd. She hated this game.

Raven couldn't believe Katchoo had a best friend, but she chose not to say anything.

"The second one?" Total guess, here.

"What if I did?" Katchoo asked, and instantly regretted it, because Francine might badgerface at her if she was there.

"If you did than it is totally your business only," Ellie quickly replied. "I make no judgments."

"I kinda hope you've actually gotten married on a cruise ship," Rose said.

"Don't want to talk about it," Katchoo muttered.

Okay, the first one was easy. She'd been friends with Francine enough to know who Katina was, even if they'd never met. As for cruise ships and Chicago, Karla didn't know what either of them were. That being said, Katina didn't really seem the 'getting married' type. Rather, she didn't seem the 'let me share with you the interesting stories of my youth' type

"You've never been married?" Karla guessed. And hoped this guess wouldn't get her in as much trouble as the 'not a real blonde' guess had.

Though the mun stands by her argument. Katchoo has black eyebrows, dammit!

"I don't know where Chicago is," Elena admitted. "But I know there was some sort of epidemic of cruise-ship weddings, a while back, and your best friend might be in this class, so ... I'll go with that Chicago one?"

Francine was there, but she would so not be badgerfacing. She would be lifting her very red face from her desk to say, "Abstaining on the grounds that I know all the answers" but getting one look at Katchoo's face and grinding to a halt at "...grounds that I--"

Then turning impossibly redder, acknowledging only to herself the magnitude of that lie, and deskplanting again.
