BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Rather than fly from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Eric's parents had given him a lift. They had offered to drive him directly to the school, but he told them he would rather meet the group at the airport and take the shuttle. That way he'd get an early glimpse at all the hot girls he was sure would be going to his new school.

So now he was relaxing in the lounge, drinking a soda and waiting. It wasn't going to college, but it would do.

It had been difficult leaving his parents behind in Smallville, but everyone agreed it was what Clark needed after the last three months in Metropolis.

At least he wasn't the only kid hanging out in the lounge post-portal trip. He shifted the bag on his shoulder and took in his surroundings. "Guess I'm not in Kansas anymore."

"Oh, if they grow them like you in Kansas, I may have to rethink my college prospects," Cordelia said with a smile directed right at Clark.

A pretty girl talking to him? Clark smiled like a doof. "Thinking about college already?"

Cordelia assumed that tall and gorgeous was in her class. Socially and educationally. "That is the thing to do when you're a senior, apparently. Where are you heading?"

"You mean to Fandom High?" Clark asked, unsure what she meant.

"After Fandom," Cordelia clarified patiently. Well, patiently for her. "Next year, what college?"

Poor Clark. "Year after next. Probably Metropolis University since it's close to home."

"Oh, you're taking a year off? Do you plan to travel?" Because there was no way a guy this tall and hot was not a senior.

"Not exactly," Clark smiled sheepishly. "I've got two years of high school left."

"Well, no, because planes take you from one place to another," Eric said.

"Right," Clark said, glancing at the kid who stated the obvious. "That and the portals."

Eric had no idea what a portal was or that he had gone through one. "So why would you think you were still in Kansas?"

"I don't?" Clark started glancing around for one of his usual saviors from awkward conversation, but sadly there was no Chloe here. "I'm from Kansas, though."

"Cool," Eric said. "I'm from Pennsylvania."

"Wow, that state is really..." Clark searched for some fact he knew about Pennsylvania, "rectangular."

"Really? I never noticed," Eric said.

Because he never looked at a map.

"Never? Didn't they make you take geography at your old school?" Someone's curriculum needed serious help.

"I think this is Maryland," Didi told him. "I like it. Kansas has more corn."

Clark took note of her seemingly damp state. "Yeah...it does. Did your plane stopover in a lake?"

"I didn't come in a plane," she informed him ruefully. "I fell into a fountain in New York 15 years ago and came out here. My brother says it was a portal."

She twirled a little. "I don't think I mind being damp."

"Fifteen years ago?" Clark's brain was used to processing weird, but that was a little beyond him.

"Maybe sixteen?" Didi said. "I lose track. I mean, I didn't live through it, it was just a whoosh thing."

Clark was worried. "A whoosh thing? You haven't come in contact with some green meteor rock, have you?"

"You mean kryptonite?" Didi asked, frowning. It wasn't exactly common, but she'd seen it a couple times at the end. "Not -- lately. I think this was more a magic whoosh portal thing than a rock thing."

His eyes couldn't have bugged out of their sockets any harder than they were. "What do you know about kryptonite?"
