BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Rather than fly from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Eric's parents had given him a lift. They had offered to drive him directly to the school, but he told them he would rather meet the group at the airport and take the shuttle. That way he'd get an early glimpse at all the hot girls he was sure would be going to his new school.

So now he was relaxing in the lounge, drinking a soda and waiting. It wasn't going to college, but it would do.

Despite all Ellie's assurances about this school, Chuck was still... a little nervous. It wasn't like he was in his element when it came to social situations, and this was looking like it would be one of those.

So, he was loitering with his baggage in the airport lounge and hoping like hell he was in the right place.

Chuck was not-- Okay, yes, he really was a little dude. There'd be a growth spurt one of these days. For now? Little.

... And yet, he was checking around, just in case it was someone else being addressed there.

"Hey," he returned finally. "Um, are you for Fandom High, by any chance?"

"Yup! Redoing my senior year," Eric said. "You?"

"Freshman!" Chuck answered. "The uh, first time around. I haven't done this before, really. Not the high school part, and not the travelling to school across the country part.

"You remind me of my little brother," Eric said. "He's kinda dorky too."

Because, yeah, Eric could spot a dork a mile away. "I can try to keep the cool kids from giving you swirlies though."

"Right." Chuck gave a little laugh and nodded. "Well, my sister assured me a lack of swirlies, so I'll have to have words with her if it turns out to be a regular thing."

"You look as lost as I feel," Jaime finally spoke up after the third or fourth considering glance in Chuck's direction.

"... I do?" Chuck asked, looking over at the other boy, and pulling out a (still slightly forced and nervous) smile.

Yeah, Chuck, you really do. "You're uh, hiding your lost-ness really well. It's very impressive."

Chuck laughed a little at that, relaxing slightly. "Hey, wait, in the movies, they say you're really not supposed to tell me that," he joked.

"Oh, man, you're right!" Jaime's hand smacked into his forehead. "I suppose this is one of those 'and now I have to kill you moments', huh?"

"I'd really rather you didn't," Chuck threw out. "I'm not great with violence, but I am great at secrets. Mostly."

Except he usually told Ellie. But other than that!

"Well, I suppose I'll trust you. But this is a matter of national security." That line might have worked better if he hadn't started snickering halfway through it.

Jaime stuck out his hand. "Reyes. Jaime Reyes." See! He was all secret agent-y and stuff!

"Chuck Bartowski," he offered, taking that hand after a moment. Look at them, all professional and cool. "You just starting too?"

"Yep," he agreed. "Sort of surprised about the whole boarding school thing." He sighed. "I sort of miss all my friends back in El Paso already."

"Kind of wished I could've packed my friend Morgan into my luggage with me," Chuck said. "I'm sure he'd have been up for that."

Ellie would've killed him, though, and then she'd probably have moved on to Morgan. And that was to say nothing of the airport security.
