Sam had nearly woken up late, Scout had been in some kind of terrible dog mood on their morning walk, the radio had done nothing to curb his concern that Chuck had caused serious emotional damage to Rachel, and everything seemed determined to remind him that there were only two weeks of summer left.

Oh, and he still had pink and gold glitter in his hair. This was not the start to a good day.

"Especially since I have someone helping me ignore everything so often," Sam said, managing another smile.

"Someone nice?" Peter asked, teasing a little.

"Super nice. And handsome," Sam said. "That really helps."

"Sounds like it," Peter agreed. He leaned in to give Sam a kiss.

Sam relaxed as he kissed Peter back. "Thank you. I needed that," he said quietly.

"I've got more where that came from," Peter told him.

"Lots more, from what I've seen," Sam said. "I'm going to get spoiled at this rate."

"It's a rough job being the only guy who gets to kiss you, but somehow I manage," Peter teased.

"I know, it's going to be so awkward kissing other guys after you're gone," Sam said, trying to make it very clear that he was joking.

"I know," Peter said, as though agreeing with Sam. "All those bruises they'll get won't be comfortable for them."

"How are you going to bruise them if you're not here?" Sam asked.

"I'll hire it out," Peter said.

"Or you could come back and visit. Or I could visit you," Sam said. "As long as I get a regular dose of kisses, I should be all right."

"That sounds good," Peter said. "I like that plan."

"Me too," Sam said, leaning in to give Peter one more kiss.
