Library (And Support Services): Saturday Morning

This time there was breakfast food out - maybe not the best breakfast food since it was a donation from McMooby's, but at least there was protein in it. And the Perk had sent along one of those giant business-meeting coffee dispensers.

Up at a table near the front, there was a notebook with neat (if extremely somewhat girly) handwriting that detailed what had been found so far: sunlight, holy water, stakes, a device under the school that controls the island... it was all there. What they didn't have, of course, was anything to tell them where to send the other island, or how, or any guarantee the people over there could do anything with the information. Assuming the other Fandom even had everything in it that this one did.

So. Piles of books on the tables. Yes. Lots and loooots of books.

[OOC: OPEN! Research post two, ends just before noon because that's when volunteers will be scurrying over to Town Hall to get the collected info to the last of the non-comatose sleepers!]

"I'm not finding much," Gabrielle said tiredly, "and I'm not much help with the more modern information, either. Is there anything else I can do?"

Late morning found Eric coming into the library and beelining for someone who looked more-or-less in charge.

"I, uh, brought some food (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/1709735.html)?" he said, smiling softly and hefting up the bag Ronan had lent him. ... Which seemed empty and thus mostly weight-less. "Waffles, biscuits, soups, a casserole..."

It wasn't that Morgana didn't appreciate the breakfast foods. She really did. But biscuits and soup had her eyes lighting up, and she smiled as she greeted him. "You needn't go to all of this trouble, honestly. But thank you," she said.

Eric grinned. "It's no trouble at all, really," he insisted. "Not just me, either, George Sands -- do you know him? -- he did at least half the cooking."

He set the bag down on a table that was mostly free and started pulling dishes out of the apparently empty bag. A pot of soup, then another, and a baked macaroni casserole; a basket of the aforementioned biscuits, still warm from the oven; a dish filled with waffles, beside which he sat small pots of whipped cream and strawberry sauce.

"I hope it's not too much," he added.

Morgana watched as the bounty grew, and her good mood grew with it. "It's perfect," she said in amazement, eying the bag curiously.

Eric caught the glance at the bag. "Don't ask me," he said, "I have no idea how the bag works. Ronan brought it by, I guess he'd been planning to do the same thing we were. He left the bags with me and George, and went off to the town hall to help there."

Last out were a stack of plates and another of bowls; he grabbed one of the plates and began piling food on it. "Here," he said, offering it to Morgana.

Boys with proper manners weren't as easy to find here as they were at home, and Morgana gave Eric a small curtsy as she took the plate. "Thank you very much," she said. "Be sure to thank the cooks as well for us, would you?"

Eric offered a small bow in return to the curtsy -- not even mocking, he'd had to do that more than enough growing up 'privileged'. "Just the one other," he said. "But thank you. And I'll pass it on to George as well."

"Hey," Reese interrupted. "Do you have a second?"

"That's the thing. I don't know." He put a couple of sheets of paper in front of her. "It took some digging, but now I keep finding this thing. Part of it looks like a control panel, but, uh..." He leafed over to a written explanation. "I'm not good at reading."

"If you can read it to me, I might understand it?" he offered.

"Yeah," he assured her. "It was English." He looked deep in thought. "I was right. It's like the dashboard of a bigger machine. You use it to enter...something and the machine does what you tell it to do." He wasn't explaining it very well.

"Is there anything you still need?" she asked, brain a bit dizzy with all the new information she'd been getting. And all the reminders of things she did know.

Re: Talk to the girls

...she'd done all that reading and now--

"That's simple enough. There's any number of countries that exist in perpetual daylight due to the tilt of the world's axis. Right now those should be" and she listed off a few, ending with Greenland.

"Do you need specific coordinates? Latitude and longitude?"

Fiona eyed the instructions for a moment, vaguely wondering when this might have been built and if her family had had anything to do with it (when you've had to go to Area 51 on a quest, you question these things) before she nodded.

"Looks like. Anything you need out of the location but '24 hour daylight'?"

Already she was trying to figure out where would be best.

"Got it."

Which had her wracking her brain.

"Greenland," she decided at least, "though if we can tell them to get bundled up somehow, that might make things more comfortable. Disko Bay should serve. It's at 69 N 52W."
