Practical Weaponry [Wednesday, Period Four]
Today the Danger-Shop was set up to look like a large plain with a castle in the distance. Bond leant against a large wooden device, looking very pleased with himself indeed.
"This is a trebuchet," Bond began, slapping the side of the device fondly. "It's siege engine dating from the Middle Ages, used mainly for flinging high speed projectiles at fortifications, though occasionally infected corpses were thrown over the walls, and while most of you are unlikely to ever need to use one for its intended purpose, they still provide an excellent exercise in calculating trajectories and distances."
"The principle is fairly simple. A missile is placed in the sling at the long end of the arm, then the counterweight at the short end is raised," he explained, pointing to the relevant parts of the trebuchet as he spoke. "When you wish to fire, this latch is released, the counterweight falls, the long arm rises, one end of the sling is released, and the missile flies off to hopefully destroy your target. Like this."
Bond did not grin as he set off the trebuchet and the stone went flying in the direction of the castle. That would have been unprofessional.
"Your mission today is to try to breach the walls of that castle over there. Who wants to go first?"

Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
Which was the perfect cue to set off the trebuchet she had been setting up and sending a stone flying.
Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
She paused to help set up the trebuchet for the next launch. "By the way, I was wondering if you'd mind me throwing a slumber party in the cabin either tonight or tomorrow. It would be open to all of us in the cabin of course" Karla hadn't learned about Tahiri being a cougar yet "and some of the other females from school."

"You have to let me help plan it," she said. "Or, at the very least, let me provide some snacks and supplies from the store."

Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
no computer land for the muniffy for me, and Friday I've got radio, but radio only takes a little bit and that way I can drag Val with me, too. I could work either one. And I'm sure if you ask a list from me, I'd just send invitation to all the girls, really."Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
"Friday then?"

Then she grinned at the trebuchet. "Pull!"
Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
"Clearly," she said, once the damage had been accessed, "it would have to involve a prank of sorts, because then word on the culprits will all be mum."
Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
Karla wasn't certain she'd be up for pulling shapes that night, but far be it for her to prevent anyone else from doing some. And she could certainly help plan with the best of them. "Oooh, very true. Since most of the females will be at the party, that leaves the males for targets, wouldn't you say?"
Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
"You know..." she said. "I remember this one time, it was probably summer, too, where the boys actually did a panty raid. Makes a girl wonder if it's high time for some retribution...."
Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
"You know, panties. Undergarments. In a traditional panty raid, guys go around, sneak into girls' rooms, and steal their underwear. From that point, they either douse them all in water and stick them in the freezer so all the girls have nothing but frozen underwear, or they run them up a flag pole for the girls to find in the morning and be all embarrassed because their panties are up the flag pole."
"Pull!" With that, she let loose the trebuchet, leaving another parapet to its doom.
Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
Karla, these are bad thoughts.
"I should probably be able to make a few sight-shields." Actually, on second thought, probably not. "Maybe I could make a few spare necklaces before Friday, hmm..."

Re: Trebuchet! - PW [Week 3]
She gave Turtle a delighted grin. "I'm thinking flagpole, you?"
