Library [07/15]

Sam had gotten into research mode as he'd headed to the library for his shift. Between looking for more people like himself - those who had been visited by Yellow Eyes, although he still didn't know if there really were any - and now trying to find out anything he could about Castiel, he had plenty to do and thankfully, plenty of time in which to do it.

"Claire, hey," Sam said, looking happy to see her. Talking to her was certainly better than hitting another dead end. "I'm doing all right. How are you?"

"Can't complain," Claire said. "My teddy bear was a little girl this weekend, but it's back to being a teddy bear."

Sam snickered. "Dean's car was a girl too. It was definitely weird to see."

Claire giggled. "I... yeah, that seems weirder than my teddy bear."

"At least it's all back to normal now. It would be weird to still have random object-people following us around." Not to mention that Dean would still be insanely distracted.

"Yeah, it's nice not having to worry about caring for another human being," Claire said. "So anyway, I've been meaning to talk to you. I ran into Nathan when he was in town a few weeks ago for that dance."

"Oh yeah? I saw him too," Sam said, although he imagined their meetings were very different. "How did it go, seeing him after...you know, everything?"

"It was... interesting," Claire said. "Good, but kind of odd. He knew I was here, but he didn't know that in my timeline, he and Peter had died."

Because why would Peter pass that on?

"Did you tell him?" Sam asked, trying to picture the look on Nathan's face.

"Yeah and I also told him that I was determined not to let it happen to him and Peter," Claire said. "He... doesn't want Peter to know the details. I know I told you some of it and I hate to ask you to keep something from him, but... Nathan thinks it's for the best and I want to trust his judgment."

To his credit, Sam actually thought about it for a few moments before saying, "That's fine. If he knows the details, he'll just obsess about them, and I don't want him to be worrying when we're not going to let it happen." Because Sam never obsessed about anything, of course.

Of course he didn't. Neither did Claire.

"Can you tell Dean too?" she asked. "He and I discussed it as well. I figured you guys were good allies in making sure it didn't happen."

"Yeah, I'll make sure he keeps it to himself," Sam said, smirking softly. "We're pretty good at that."

"Thank you, Sam," Claire said. "It's nice knowing that I have you and Dean behind me on this."

"I don't know what I'd do if something happened to Peter," Sam admitted. "And he promised me that he's going to keep me safe. Doing the same for him just makes sense."

"I didn't save him once, I won't let it happen again," Claire said. "And if there's ever anything I can do for you, please let me know."

"Just help me take care of Peter. That's all I can ask from you," Sam replied.

"Definitely," Claire promised.
