Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Yes, there were even more tents on the other side of the lawn.

Yes, the tables and chairs that had been set up there were still close to the ice cream.

Priorities are very important here at Fandom High.

"Uhhh, well, Penelope's kinda off getting married this week," Hurley said.

"Ohhhh," said Hoshi, wishing she hadn't asked. "That's... wow. Are you okay with everything?"

Hurley gave a look. A very pointed look.

"Yeah, I think I can take a guess," said Hoshi. "I don't know what to say, except I could probably distract you with my scandalous stories from Starfleet command. I got in trouble for spending the weekend at a senior officer's apartment."

After a beat, she added, "He wasn't home that weekend and I was dog-sitting."

Hurley chuckled. "Was he really gone?"

"He was in Australia supervising a survival training exercise in the desert," said Hoshi. "And quite frankly, I probably kept him from getting evicted. On the nights I left Porthos there alone, the poor pup stayed up all night barking. Captain Archer's neighbors weren't happy."

"Awww, poor puppy," Hurley said. "I'm glad you were able to keep an eye on him."

"I wish I could have brought him back with me, but I had to get my portal out of there in a hurry," said Hoshi.

"Man, that sucks," Hurley said. "But I'm just glad you didn't miss your portal."

"I'll manage," said Hoshi. "I brought Porthos to stay with me initially because my first roommate left, but now I've got a great roommate and her cat, plus we're going to be back in the cabins soon. Not quite so lonely as I was in San Francisco, right?"

"Yeah," Hurley said. "You got plenty of friends here."

"And I'm grateful for that," said Hoshi.
