BWI - Portalocity Lounge [Friday Morning]

Chloe got off her flight from New York and followed the signs to the lounge. She dumped the duffle bag of clothes that Andrew had hastily purchased on the floor and slumped into one of the uncomfortable airport chairs.

She was still against this plan but she realized on the flight that sulking wouldn't make it any better so she was going to put on a brave face and make the most of it.

Tyler looked at the hand for a long moment, then shook it. "Tyler Durden, driving the shuttle," he returned.

Or helping to drive. He had to negotiate that with Deadpool.

"It's an hour, ninety minutes if we hit holiday traffic," Tyler claimed. "Where are you coming from, Danny?"

"Amity Park, by way of Chicago," Danny replied. "And as long as no one whines about anything, I'll sit on the bus for as long as necessary."

"What'll you do if somebody whines?" Tyler asked. "I can't really guarantee a no-whining zone."

Disappear. "I'll finally find the headphones that I know I put in my carry-on, I hope," he said. "If I'm really lucky, I'll fall asleep as soon as I sit down again."

"I might do that too," Tyler said, oh so seriously. "Think it'll be a problem if it happens while I'm driving?"

"Speaking out of an extreme personal attachment to this life, then yes, that might be," Danny joked.

He really hoped Tyler was as well. And was really good at deadpanning.

He was. It was one of his skills.

"Then I'll try to stay awake," Tyler said simply. "If you wanna be alive when we get to campus."

Suddenly Danny wondered if that whole "alive" thing meant that Tyler knew more than he was letting on about him. Did his parents mention... everything?

He decided to play it off. "Oh sure. But just be safe, can I buy you a coffee or Mountain Dew or something?"

"Right on. So... are you one of the teachers?" Danny asked.

"... do you think this school lets just anybody drive the bus?" Tyler feigned offense.

"I didn't know if maybe you were the headmaster, or something. I didn't want to assume that you were just a bus driver and find out that you were, like, my adviser or something," Danny explained.

"Nah, I just teach chemistry," Tyler said, cheerily for him. "But thanks for asking. What grade are you in?"

"Sophomore," Danny said. "I just finished my freshman year at Casper High back home."

"Three years of Fandom ahead," Tyler said, raising an eyebrow. "Have fun."

"I hope so," Danny replied, grabbing his bags. "Do a lot of people come for all four years of school?"

He hated to think that he'd be the only new kid in his classes. It would just add insult to injury right now, as far as he was concerned.

"We get mostly transfer students," Tyler reassured the boy.

"Really? So... is everyone here a new kid too?" he asked, sounding maybe a touch too relieved at the prospect.

"Everyone in the airport," Tyler confirmed. "I guess they figure old kids can make their own way on and off campus."

"Wow," Danny said, looking around. "So what's the school like?"

"Swear you'll believe whatever I tell you?" Tyler asked.

"Why wouldn't I? It can't be that bad," Danny said, "right?"

Tyler rubbed the bridge of his nose as he considered how to answer that one.

"It rained glitter a couple days after the last batch of new kids got here," he said, as a test.

Danny opened his mouth to make a comment, but then thought of every single instance of weirdness he'd experienced since gaining his powers.

"Any chance of a crazy monster made completely out of lunch meat terrorizing the school?" he asked, trying desperately to sound as nonchalant as possible.

"It's never happened before," Tyler said thoughtfully. "We did have zombies a couple months back. And mutant alligators."
