Spy Games, Monday, 6/22, Period 5

Today, the Danger Shop was arranged to look like an elegant formal ballroom, with heavy chandeliers, a string quartet playing jazz tunes in the corner, and a buffet of light finger foods. Sarah, dressed to kill in a red gown slit almost up to there, smiled as she greeted the class.

"Welcome to your final," she said. "There are two key things somewhere in this room. One is a suspect called La Ciudad. All you know about this individual is that he or she is a Colombian national suspected of smuggling drugs and weapons, especially weapons. The other is La Ciudad's information drop -- the papers he or she is passing along to a contact. Your job is to recover one or both of these things by the end of class without making anyone suspicious. The hotel has its own security, and La Ciudad does not travel alone. Things could get dangerous."

"You'll be working in teams of three. On each team, one person is the analyst. This person knows how to interpret the papers but must be protected. The other two are both agents. It helps if one of you is the muscle and bodyguard and the other does the investigating, but you can divide that up however you want to."

She pointed off to two side chambers, labeled GENTLEMEN and LADIES. "Right now, you have ten minutes to find your team and then get into appropriate cover to circulate at this event, including any weapons or supplies you wish to carry. You'll each be wearing a mike so you can talk to each other or to me."

She waited a second longer, then: "Go."

Well.

This was familiar territory; Katchoo was trying not to twitch.

Ino, mostly paintfree by now, listened silently, not really caring.

Yay. Ball.

Liir wondered to himself just which of the jobs he'd be the least competent at.

Karla looked around for her teammates. Edmund she knew, but she didn't think she'd met Alice.

Triela split her attention between looking for her teammates and looking around the room. This, she was pretty sure, was exactly the sort of thing the Agency had sent her here to learn.

Effy wasn't actively looking for her team, because hell if she was going to look like she might be enthusiastic about anything. But, she was there, and waiting around in case they chose to find her.

Ender was on a team with his sister and someone he didn't know. He suspected that between Val and himself alone, they'd be able to figure it out without too much time wasted - with any luck, their third would make it even more likely.

Sam was pretty sure he was going to be the "muscle" out of the three of them, but he was okay with that. He looked around for Ino and Liir, wondering what they'd want to do.

Agnes frowned at the ballroom and shifted uncomfortably as she waited for Lois and Gwen.

Wishing she wasn't so familiar with this and hating every second of how it felt, Katchoo slipped into a dress and let her hair down; she strapped a knife to each leg and hid a handgun and extra ammo in her -- ugh -- purse.

She found a couple of cameras, too, one disguised as a Zippo lighter and one just a very compact surveillance model, both of which went into the purse before she swapped out one of the several usual earrings in her right ear with a listening device. A necklace with a pendant that concealed a small but powerful dose of sedative went around her neck.

When the rest of her team showed up to suit up, she supposed she'd have to help them.

Oh, you bet Katchoo did. Even if she was still trying to look like she didn't know that much about this assignment.

Dean was doing his best to fit into the location. Gotta provide a good role model for the students after all.

Liir walked over to Sarah after class, pulling a small flat device from his bag. It was about the size of a credit card, though thicker, and had a little silver disk at the middle.

"Professor? That assignment you gave me..."

Oh my god, this is beautifully perfect for my girl. :D
