"Today we dress our alteregos!" Edna announced, "and before you ask, no what you are wearing right now will not do." She glanced at a few particularly horrifying examples in the class Claudia and shuddered. "Your job, when you are not being a superhero, is to blend into the background! To be completely unremarkable! To have your neighbors, if asked, reply 'I have no idea who that person is!' when asked!"

She smiled and flung her hands towards the many, many racks of clothing. Nothing plaid, darlings. She has standards, and you don't need to look like a hobo to be unremarkable. "So you will pick out ensembles for each other! Twenty-first century style, please. You want to blend in, not look like a crazy escapee from the Renaissance Festival."

Relatedly, they could wrestle his swoopy longcoat from his cold, dead fingers. Ahem.

He shot her a look. "Not particularily," he said. Kindly. Really.

Mind, he'd have said that to just about anyone in this room. Why couldn't he just make them sort Merlin into all of his classes?

She looked up at him, one eyebrow raised. She might defer to him in the salle, but here they were both students.

"Well, I've already picked out something and I don't feel like doing it again. At least take a look."

And he could go back to glaring at Edna. Much of a profession, that.

She actually hadn't done too badly. The shirt was a red polo, the pants brown denim with a darker brown belt of braided leather coiled atop them. A pair of good boots sat underneath and lying next to it was soft leather jacket. It wasn't entirely different from what he usually wore, but it was definitely in the early-twenty-first-century realm that Edna had asked for.

Dinah had some idea of how this went, knowing how Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle managed it. This is why she's pulling out the blue satin evening dress and checking the length.

Dinah looked up and grinned. "Sure! At a New Gotham cocktail party," she explained, cocking her head. "If I was pretending to be air-head blonde ditz number three from the left, wouldn't this convince you I couldn't be stopping bad guys?" Paging Lt. Madison!

She looked at the other clothes in the rack. "We could find you something really classic too..."

"I still don't see what's wrong with what I have on," Claudia said, looking down at her polka dot leggings, red shirt with flamingos on it and bright turquoise cowboy boots.

Jo took at good look at Claudia's clothing. Then suppressed the urge for a quick 'Christo' just to be on the safe it.

"It's very eye-catching." Catching, bleeding, same difference. "Doesn't work for blending in at all."

Alice was eying the racks of clothing. "It's terrible," she said conversationally. "When presented with orders, I feel an instinctive urge to disobey. Right now, I feel like selecting something thoroughly outrageous and daring, just because I can."
