"Today we dress our alteregos!" Edna announced, "and before you ask, no what you are wearing right now will not do." She glanced at a few particularly horrifying examples in the class ~~Claudia~~ and shuddered. "Your job, when you are not being a superhero, is to blend into the background! To be completely unremarkable! To have your neighbors, if asked, reply 'I have no idea who that person is!' when asked!"

She smiled and flung her hands towards the many, many racks of clothing. Nothing plaid, darlings. She has standards, and you don't need to look like a hobo to be unremarkable. "So you will pick out ensembles for each other! Twenty-first century style, please. You want to blend in, not look like a crazy escapee from the Renaissance Festival."

Dinah had some idea of how this went, knowing how Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle managed it. This is why she's pulling out the blue satin evening dress and checking the length.

"That's supposed to blend in?" Francine asked skeptically.

Dinah looked up and grinned. "Sure! At a New Gotham cocktail party," she explained, cocking her head. "If I was pretending to be air-head blonde ditz number three from the left, wouldn't this convince you I couldn't be stopping bad guys?" Paging Lt. Madison!

She looked at the other clothes in the rack. "We could find you something really classic too..."

"I would not blend in in that, that's for sure," Francine said. "Only half of me would even fit in that."

"Okay, maybe not," Dinah admitted. "At least not at a cocktail party..." She grinned and found something else. "This! (http://www.sara-rue.com/images/sr/SaraRue00038.jpg)"

Well, it looked like she would fit in it, at least. Francine fingered the straps. "They don't have any with turtle-necks?"

"Francine!" Dinah pouted a little. "If you wear a turtleneck, people will wonder what you have on under it," she reasoned. "Like a Cupcake costume. You couldn't fit a costume under this." She grinned. "So they'd wonder about what you had on under it for different reasons!"

"I don't want people to wonder what I have on under my clothes!" Francine shook the dress a little. "How is that blending in?"

"It's all about where you're blending," Dinah said, determined. "If you're going to a Chuck Bass party, or one in New Gotham, or hey, even Camelot--" Ha! "--there you'd just have to lengthen it, you know? And you'd still look right. If you want to blend into a library we can do something else, but in New Gotham, you'd blend! Or Santa Cruz! Or New York!"

Francine needed quite a bit of help to distract herself from the Camelot concept, so she flailed for the first thing that wasn't that. "Okay, okay. Chuck Bass party, yes. Though it's kind of multicolored for one of his parties. His are always green or gold or something."

"They have to have some tropical themed one, sometimes." Holding up the dress next to Francine, Dinah coaxed, "You'll look too elegant and fashionable to be a crimefighter!" She held up a second dress (http://www.sara-rue.com/images/sr/SaraRue00007.jpg) if Francine was going to insist on color-coordination. "The black's good too!"

"Oh, man. That one's pretty." She'd steal it if she didn't have a guilt-complex the size of Idaho. Francine let the black one drape over her arm then looked at Dinah's again. "Okay, great for a cocktail party, but if you wore that walking down the street in west Texas they'd probably think not-super things about your not-super identity."

"No?" Dinah grinned. "Okay. You dress me, then." Her usual capris-and-shirt would probably do the trick anyway, but maybe there was more blending to be done?

"What you're wearing would work, but on a summer day in Houston?" Francine had to dig. Francine had to dig a lot - but eventually she came up with what she was looking for, and dropped it on Dinah's head. "There! Now no one would look twice at you. Well, the boys would, but duh. They wouldn't thin you're a crimefighter; they'd just want your number.""

Dinah adjusted it, then grinned at Francine. "Just for wearing a ball cap with a bull on it?"

Francine rolled her eyes. "No, because you're pretty. But if they think you like sports, it's a plus."

Dinah snickered, turning red, and said, "Okay. I can fake my way through talking about the Superbowl, right?" She grinned. "That won't screw me up with this hat?"

"Only if you talk about their chances to make it. They're the University of Teaxs team."

"Ha!" Dinah snickered, then waved her hand in the air. "Go Texas! We're the ... bestest!"

Francine paused. "Maybe you should blend in as one of those girls who can't stand sports. we've got those too."
