The library [Thursday, May 14]

After the totes horrible fashion class (she was not blinding, thank you very much. She was quirky. Crazy old bat.), Claudia stomped into the library (no easy task in the turquoise stilettos she was rocking) and slumped behind the desk, where she planned to spend the day doodling terrible things dropping onto Ms. Mode's head.

Ha! That'll show her.

The library was open.

[OOC: And Claudia lost the OCD. It's probably under her pillow with a pound of Twizzlers and some pretzels.]

"I'm totally not answering to it," Claudia said. "What's she going to do? Give me detention?"

"I can't blame you," Shilo replied. "Have you ever had detention before?"

Home-schooling resulted more in getting sent to her room and/or grounding when she acted out. Detentions were something new.

Claudia nodded. "Couple of times, mostly because the principal at my old school was, like, obsessed with the dress code."

"I see." Shilo could understand that. She liked the fact that Claudia was so into her particular brand of fashion. "Any here, though?"

"Yeah," Claudia said with a grin. "There was a thing in a class where we were supposed to get wet and I was wearing this really cute shirt and I didn't want to ruin it. So I told the professor I was having my period and couldn't exercise. I think it broke his brain."

Blink. Blink blink. Bodily functions of others + one Shilo Wallace = lots of awkward discomfort.

"That is definitely one way of getting out of something," Shilo eventually replied. "Did you have to do anything, like writing lines or cleaning chalkboards?"

"I had to help clean a pool over at one of the apartment complexes in town," Claudia replied. "It was weird."

Off-campus community work? Shilo guessed she could deal with that. "It doesn't sound too bad, though."

After all, Shilo was still identifying glitter-rain as "weird".

"I know, right?" Claudia agreed. "Besides, the teacher who was running it was totally cute."

Shilo let out a nervous giggle. "Well, if he was always the one in charge of detention, then I'm sure the girls would be more than willing to get in trouble."

"Omigod, there are so many cute teachers here," Claudia said, bouncing a little in her chair. "Not the one we had today, obviously, but other ones!"

"I guess. I've only had one male teacher, and he was okay for an older guy, but I have another one this afternoon." As far as she was concerned, Shilo was more interested in the male students.

And Claudia just liked guys. Period. She hadn't been thirteen and throwing herself at a 22-year-teacher like some of her friends, Stacey, but she was still going to be a little boy-crazy.

"Ooh, who?"

"Well, Dr. Jones was the first one. He was kind of grumpy." Maybe he wouldn't have been if she hadn't been pestering him about his "real" name, but that was six of one and a half dozen of the other. "The other one is Tim Desmond, the storytelling teacher."

"Oh, I know Doctor Jones!" Claudia said. "He runs the library. He let me borrow his jacket once. Totally old guy cute."

"I guess so," Shilo replied. "He seems kind of... gruff though." As though the males she'd known in her time had been some kinds of pinnacles of masculine perfection. Riiiiiight.

"True," Claudia said. "Have you seen anyone else who's cute?"

"Well, there was that one guy in the fashion class. The blond guy?" Shilo smiled a little dreamily. "He was definitely cute. I don't know, though. I haven't really met a lot of the guys here yet, other than Merlin, and that was only because he's my big brother."

"You mean Arthur?" Claudia asked. "He's really a prince and everything, but kind of a jerk. He's across the hall from me when we aren't being all campy. But yeah, totes hot."

Shilo's eyes got big. "You mean an honest-to-God prince? Crown and kingdom and all that?"

"Yes!" Claudia said, eyes wide. "There are a few of them! Prince Edward has a totally cute jacket, too, and I think he's finally over his whole thing where he wanted to be engaged to some girl named Gazelle. Because, Lord, we are way too young for that."

"Whoa," Shilo said. "And yeah... I haven't even been on a date yet. Let alone engaged to someone already."

"Omigod, we have to fix that," Claudia said. "There are sooo many parties this weekend. We'll find you someone cute."

Matchmaking was one of Claudia's favorite things. Poor Shilo.

"Even if it's just to look at," Claudia said. "There is so much pretty. I mean, I have a boyfriend, but I haven't gone blind."
