Library [05/13]

With workshops going on, there was nothing that could keep Sam out of the library now. He'd gotten away from his cabin early, and had both coffee and a bagel to keep him going through the morning. He wasn't sure if anyone would need the library so early in the term, but he was ready just in case.

"Well, there's the meta Nancy Drew novels," Sam said, trying to combine "mystery" and "girl" in his head. "They're pretty easy to get into if you haven't read a lot of the genre before." Or, you know, any.

"Which one would you pick if you had to read it?" she asked with a tilt of her head.

"I would pick the first one," Sam said without hesitation. "But that's because I'm anal about order."

She grinned just a little, but kept back from teasing.

"I meant in the genre on the whole. If you had to pick one book, which would it be?"

The question gave Sam such pause that he couldn't help but stare. "I...I don't even know where to start to pick one favorite," he said. "I love books. That's why I work here. I have dozens and dozens of favorites. I know that probably makes me sound weird."

She shook her head.

"You're not the only one. My favorites are just... treaties on bizarre medical conditions and plantlife identification guides."

Her entire home had been plastered with books since she could remember. Just not ficitonal ones.
