Basketball- 6th Period- Class #1

Lily greeted her class in the gym today, because as nice as it would be to be outdoors in the fresh air, she hadn't had time to make new basketball hoops and these were already made.

"Hi, everyone!" she said. "I recognize some familiar faces here and some... really really not familiar ones. I'm Ms. Aldrin, and I'll be your workshop leader for Basketball. We've got a small group, but that's good. Small groups encourage one-on-one learning and you'll probably find yourself getting better and building more esteem that way. So today I want you all to try to get the balls in the hoops! It's okay if you don't, just try your best and have fun! If you need me, I'll be right here."

And then she took a seat on the bleachers and picked up her guitar.

"And now you're stuck on a small island." Hannibal tucked the basketball under his arm. "You like things small."

"Haven't you heard that everything is big in Texas?" Riggins asked. "Even the small towns."

Shh, it made sense to him. Coach would probably say something about the town having big heart or whatever but Riggins was not so good with the words.

"Overcompensating?" Look, he had to.

"Nah. Just a fact of life." Oh, Hannibal was so lucky Riggins was sober. That made the difference between the ability to take a joke and a fist to the jaw.

"I'll have to check that out for myself one day," he said. "Not on you." Just to make that clear. "Though, I'm sure you're plenty big where it counts."

Riggins kind of stared for a moment. People here talked way too much. "...thanks."

Aww, new kids were so cute. Hannibal grinned and said, "See you later, Tim." He figured he'd bothered him enough.
