Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

"Thanks... I guess." Shilo looked down at her feet. "So why did you leave Florida for here? I heard that it's always nice down there."

"Oh it is. But I like to travel, and I want to be a performer like my Uncle Kermit. He lives in LA. So I get sent here to expand my horizons."

"I hope so. I could use... neat." Anything seemed appealing after the future she had escaped.

"Gremlins?" Shilo arched an eyebrow. "Is that slang for something?"

"Nope, Gremlins are little green guys...my size but not as cute. They sometimes bite, and the people they bite think they're someone else for awhile."

"Does... does this happen a lot?" Shilo was suddenly very grateful for the knee-high leather boots on her feet.

"Maybe. What do people act like when they're... bit?"

"Well, a lot of times the sing. I didn't get bit exactly, but I got affected anyway and thought I was an outer space explorer. A friend of mine got bit and thought he was a performance artist."

"Too weird," Shilo decided. "I guess I'll just have to wait and see what it looks like. Since none have showed up during the picnic."

She started looking around suspiciously.

"There's pictures up everywhere. They're also our mascot."

"Oh." So that was what that ugly little thing that was printed next to the school name on her schedule. She had assumed that the printer had suffered some sort of horrific electronic death in the middle of printing out the header and that had inadvertently been the result. "Good to know."

"Also there'll probably be some random events of weirdness."

Shilo was starting to feel a touch overwhelmed. "What qualifies as a random event of weirdness?"

"How?" Shilo wanted to say 'why' as well, but the phrase 'random event' had stayed with her.

Robin wondered if maybe he shouldn't tell her about spending weekends with their children from the future. Not that Robin had had to deal with that.
