Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

Katchoo raised an eyebrow and put a new cigarette into her mouth, still just watching. Where the hell was her lighter, anyway?

Still, she had to give the girl points for not immediately bitching about being watched. Hell of a lot better than people getting up in her face about it.

Considering Effy spent most of her time watching people interact, rather than doing the interacting, she could hardly call someone else out on doing the same.

She watched a moment longer before winding her way a little closer, driven by a certain amount of curiosity herself.

"Haven't seen you around here before," Katchoo said in her customary gruff rasp -- girl really needed to lay off the cigarettes and booze. Nah.

"That's because I haven't been," Effy replied simply, still working a slow appraisal of the girl.

"I'm all shiny new," she said dryly.

Something like that.

Katchoo snorted, a nearly imperceptible twitch at one corner of her mouth the only outward sign of amusement. "And you're so frikkin' excited about that. I can tell."

"Seems to be going around," Effy noted, cocking her head with a certain wry twist of her lips.

"Maybe something in the water."

Finally finding her lighter buried beneath a wad of paper balls in her pocket, Katchoo dug it out and lit up her cigarette. "That was my theory, yeah. Which is why we avoid the water, innit?"

"Where possible," Effy agreed. She was taking from this, than the growly guy who'd told her to put her cigarette out had been full of himself.

"Something to work on once I've been here more than a half hour." No doubt, she would be angling for something a little more interesting than the soda they were supplying here.

Well, it was also that Katchoo really just didn't give a crap about the smoking rules.

"The bar in town doesn't card, y'know," she offered helpfully.

"Useful," Effy remarked, actually quirking a slight smirky smile at that. It might be read as appreciative, in a funny sort of way.

"Here I thought I was going to have to bribe someone." Bonus points for finding someone with the insider information.
