Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

Turtle smiled a little bit at that. "It does seem like a bit more than usual, I think, but it's still a pretty small school."

"Well," Turtle said, carefully weighing Himura's reaction. "For...some people, I guess." She chuckled, just a little, hopefully not enough to seem rude or anything. "It's a lot for you, huh?"

He nodded mutely.

"I expect to see this many people walking the streets of Kyoto," he said. "Or perhaps preparing for battle. Not... Like this."

"Oh! Kyoto! That's in Japan. That's where you're from?"

Turtle just might have felt a little too proud about being able to piece that together, all things considered.

"I am. What about you?"

"Westingtown, Wisconsin," Turtle rolled her eyes with a slight groan. "No where near as cool a Kyoto, Japan."

"Where is Wisconsin?" he asked, pronouncing the name carefully.

"Northwest of here," Turtle said, pointing vaguely in that direction. "A bit of a ways, but no where near as far as Kyoto."

"...How far is Kyoto from here?" he asked quietly after a moment.

"Um," Turtle said, "I was never really very good at geography, so I can't get more specific than 'pretty much on the other side of the world.'"

"...so, do you...happen to know why you're here, Himura?" she asked, figuring that was a good place to start.
