Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

It certainly was an interesting student body in the literally half-naked sense. "It's keeping me awake," he told her. "Just about everyone's been friendly, if strange or wearing satellites and robes."

"If it's any consolation," Turtle offered, "I'm almost entirely completely normal."

Besides the whole self-made teenage billionaire and multidimensional franchise owner thing, but details, details.

"Almost?" Granted, Griff wasn't exactly normal either, but those were details. Everyone else was supposed to be normal, right? "What does almost leave you with?"

"I'm pretty sure you can't be fully normal to go to this school, actually."

"Oh? So we get to play figure out what's iffy with the new kids, then?"

"I didn't say that," Turtle said, frowning a little and hoping it didn't seem that way. "Just that...you know...everyone here has something iffy about them. Or different. Or strange. So it's no big deal kind of thing."

"Ah, I see. So if everybody's iffy, no one is. That's a bizarre brand of logic."

Turtle smiled faintly. "A little. But it's kind of true, especially around here. Sometimes, the iffier you are, the better off you'll be in a lot of situations, as weird as that sounds."

"What's your brand of iffy?" Maybe it wasn't so bad to be a teleport if there were people who had stranger gifts.

"That's...a little hard to explain," Turtle said, shifting a little. "But, I mean, I guess I could be classified as just pretty business savvy? More than the average person? Which isn't nowhere near as cool or interesting as some of the powers that other people have."

"Business savvy. Now that's a gift if I ever heard one. What are the other powers here?" They sounded tame so far.

"Um," Turtle thought a second, "Teddy just graduated, but he could shapeshift. I have a friend who can, too, but he likes to keep that quiet, so I won't tell you his name. My friend Dor can make inanimate object talk. Jamie just left, but he could duplicate. It's not really a power, but my business partner has spots; he's an alien."
