Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

"It's a little overwhelming," Claire admitted. "But I think I'm going to like it just fine."

After all, it had Peter.

"Just take it good and slow," Turtle offered with a bit of a grin. "That's my advice."

"I think that's the best advice I've gotten all day," Claire said.

"You must have gotten some pretty crappy advice, then," Turtle had to admit with a light laugh. "I figured it was pretty basic."

"Well, I got warned about invasions and people from different planets and all that," Claire said.

"Good old invasions. It wouldn't be Fandom without them."

"That's what I've gathered," Claire said. "Sounds a lot more interesting than my old school."

"Where was your old school?"

"Texas," Claire said. "Though my family is in California now."

"Aw, that's a lot more exciting than where I came from. I was originally in Wisconsin." Turtle's nose twisted in disgust.

"You probably get a lot of cheese jokes, huh?" Claire asked.

"...actually," Turtle admitted with a tilt of her head. "Not really, no. But I don't mention it all that much."

But, of course, she couldn't help adding, "All those jokes are so cheesy, anyway."

Hyuk hyuk.

Claire laughed. "How long have you been in Fandom?"

"This is going on my fourth year," Turtle said with a nod. "I came in for the long haul."

"Wow, that's pretty amazing," Claire said. "Were you used to the weirdness before you came here?"

"Not really," Turtle said. "Some weird stuff happened in Westingtown, but definitely nothing on, like, Fandom scale weird."

Claire nodded. "I've only been here a few hours and I have the feeling that nothing could be as weird as this place."

"Good!" Turtle smiled. "Then you'll probably get along just fine if you recognize that fact already."
