U.S. History, Thursday, 4/23, Period 2
"This is it," Tyler announced once everybody was in the classroom and sitting in their assigned pairs. "At the end of this class, history is over."
Sometimes, he thought he was funny.
"From here on out, you'll have to deal with the here and now." Well, Algren was amused, at any rate. "Marks, for example, are a relatively important chunk of the present, aren't they? Those final assignments aren't history just yet."
It was possible that this lecture was going to consist mostly of bad jokes containing the word 'history.' The students would have to cope, somehow.
"Anemone and Cal, you're up first," Tyler said, solemn. "We trust you to make history."

shinoi_tiger. Teams can tag in to present in any order -- the order shown is for IC purposes only. That said, uh, please don't do anything major that teams after you would have to react to unless you're the last team.]

Presentations [History, 4/23]
Anemone + Cal: 1975-79
Re: Anemone + Cal: 1975-79
It was rare to see Anemone that happy.
"So, seventy-five through seventy-nine was filled with lots of political stuff, and awesome music, and I'm not sure how you people managed to fit so much outrage into four years," she said cheerily,
handwavilygoing over some incidents, some of which were embellished in the creative way only Anemone could provide."But, well, anything I say is probably slander, so I brought an expert," she stated. "My partner knows all this better than me, so you should probably listen to him."
Re: Anemone + Cal: 1975-79
And so Cal added to the
handwaveypresentation, getting a little Homeric during a few spots, unable to help himself. And that was that. And it was totally done in a timely fashion, too.Katina + Sookie: 1980-84
Re: Katina + Sookie: 1980-84
handwavey like whoapart of the presentation consisted largely of a scathing (and not exactly politely worded) rant about Ronald Reagan, complete with several dark and sarcastic implications that someone had been pulling his strings, while she slouched against the wall with her hands jammed in her pockets. To be fair, she'd have implied that about anyone in power if she'd been assigned another time period.
Re: Katina + Sookie: 1980-84
totes handwavily, yes yesfocused on the same topic, offered a lighter spin on things, touching on the defeat of Carter in the 1980 election and the events of the Cold War as continued by Reagan.Alice + Summer: 1985-89
Re: Alice + Summer: 1985-89
handwavey like a handwavey thingpresentation focused largely on the Fall of the Berlin Wall and its impact on history. She went on to talk about how she thought it was on of the most important things to occur in that time period. It was pretty insightful coming from a girl who could be shallow when she wanted.Re: Alice + Summer: 1985-89
similarly handwaveypresentation turned to the Berlin Wall's role in the general collapse of communist states in Europe that year, noting that some of the revolutions were peaceful, but a few tended to violence. She then focused on the Tiananmen Square massacre as something which was neither peaceful, nor a successful revolution.Ino + Ender: 1990-94
Re: Ino + Ender: 1990-94
He lapsed into about two and a half minutes' worth of description, peppered here and there with the slightest coat of Ender's own political interpretation of events and what they meant for the future.
When he was through, he nodded at Ino.
Re: Ino + Ender: 1990-94
"Okay!" she said brightly. "See, by the end of all of that, President Bush, not the one that just got, you know, replaced by President Obama, but a different one--I think they were related? Maybe?--was pretty shiny in peoples' opinions but over the next few years, thanks to his widely considered greatest skill being, you know, foreign relations (that means he's probably a fairly good diplomat, people), and that not being considered so important because America was entering a recession and 'cause he broke a promise that he made to the public about taxes, the general opinion against him started going downhill."
Ino rambled on for about a minute about the further specifics about how and what was going on during the recession before finally winding down with, "...which means that, in 1992, that meant when he tried to get re-elected, someone else won. That someone else was President Clinton, and honestly, I think he sounded like he was a pretty good one, all things considered, since he left the office with a pretty high rating--" she shook her head, visibly cutting herself off from another tangled ramble-tangent. "Okay," she said, with a bit of a rueful grin. "I'm done. I mean, we're done."
Teddy, Buffy + Naomi: 1995-99
Re: Teddy, Buffy + Naomi: 1995-99
handwavypart of the presentation focused a little too heavily on Bill and Monica and that whole thing, with the rest mostly dealing with pop culture of sorts. It was so sad that she was from that time and she still thought that was all that happened.
Gavin + Sam Witwicky: 2000-04
Re: Gavin + Sam Witwicky: 2000-04
was going to handwave his ass offwith a presentation that probably focused on the trend of how bad a president George W. Bush was. Hey, most of the historical events Sam had explained to him had led back to the president in one way or another. It seemed logical to do an assignment on his trend of mistakes. And there were plenty for both he and Sam to present.Harvey + Sam Winchester: 2005-09
Re: Harvey + Sam Winchester: 2005-09
handwavypart of the presentation focused on the technological advancements that had come about during the last five years. He'd clearly done his research, mainly because it gave him a chance to geek out over shiny toys.Talk to the TA [4/23]
Re: Talk to the TA [4/23]
She doodled on a piece of paper and wondered if she ought to talk to Tyler-sensei.

Just because he was one of the teachers didn't mean he couldn't learn, too.
