U.S. History, Thursday, 4/23, Period 2

"This is it," Tyler announced once everybody was in the classroom and sitting in their assigned pairs. "At the end of this class, history is over."

Sometimes, he thought he was funny.

"From here on out, you'll have to deal with the here and now." Well, Algren was amused, at any rate. "Marks, for example, are a relatively important chunk of the present, aren't they? Those final assignments aren't history just yet."

It was possible that this lecture was going to consist mostly of bad jokes containing the word 'history.' The students would have to cope, somehow.

"Anemone and Cal, you're up first," Tyler said, solemn. "We trust you to make history."

[OOC: Preplayed with the beautiful [livejournal.com profile] shinoi_tiger. Teams can tag in to present in any order -- the order shown is for IC purposes only. That said, uh, please don't do anything major that teams after you would have to react to unless you're the last team.]

"As a result of the fall of the fall of the Berlin wall," said Ender, neatly seguing in from the previous presentation, "As well as many other factors worthy of note, the Soviet Union fell apart in 1991, putting a final end to the Cold War and saddling Europe with a great deal of new countries."

He lapsed into about two and a half minutes' worth of description, peppered here and there with the slightest coat of Ender's own political interpretation of events and what they meant for the future.

When he was through, he nodded at Ino.

She bounced on her heels, hands behind her back, as she hadn’t bothered with carrying any notes on her, and more than pleased to have all eyes on her, unless they were sleeping and brain-dead from the other discussions, in which case Ino really couldn’t blame them because Ender had the driest voice ever, seriously. Maybe that was just Ino?

"Okay!" she said brightly. "See, by the end of all of that, President Bush, not the one that just got, you know, replaced by President Obama, but a different one--I think they were related? Maybe?--was pretty shiny in peoples' opinions but over the next few years, thanks to his widely considered greatest skill being, you know, foreign relations (that means he's probably a fairly good diplomat, people), and that not being considered so important because America was entering a recession and 'cause he broke a promise that he made to the public about taxes, the general opinion against him started going downhill."

Ino rambled on for about a minute about the further specifics about how and what was going on during the recession before finally winding down with, "...which means that, in 1992, that meant when he tried to get re-elected, someone else won. That someone else was President Clinton, and honestly, I think he sounded like he was a pretty good one, all things considered, since he left the office with a pretty high rating--" she shook her head, visibly cutting herself off from another tangled ramble-tangent. "Okay," she said, with a bit of a rueful grin. "I'm done. I mean, we're done."
