"Now is the time to return the Woklings to me," Anakin said, gesturing to the tables that were at the front of the classroom. "I'll be taking them to their homeworld tonight."

Mostly because if he brought them back to the apartment, he'd probably end up adopting a few to stop Rory from giving him pleading eyes.

He clapped his hands together. "Very well. Tell me what you learned this week while caring for intelligent, sentient creatures who couldn't be stuck in a fridge or a closet, and if it served as an effective check on raging hormones. Actions always have consequences, be they as major as a baby--which I understand also invaded this weekend, so hopefully none of the Ewoks are dyed interesting colors--or as minor as rolling over in the morning and wondering what on Earth you were thinking the night before."

His frown deepened. "And speaking of the island producing children, where I was made a great grandfather yet again, something I am far too hot for, I will be repeating my ~~terrifying~~ educational lecture on sexual reproduction late this afternoon. If you know anyone who is a Skywalker, Solo, or managed to have a child that was a Skywalker or a Solo, tell them their attendance in mandatory."

"Well, yeah," she said, with a duh lurking in her tone. "And it's kinda difficult to do some things, and they eat up a lot of your time, but they're kinda worth it, if you're willing."

Smiles, and hugs, and silly chatter while talking them into bed, into clothing, out for fun made it worth it.

"...would you be willing?" Anakin asked, sounding a little surprised.

She shrugged. "I don't know, for the long term," Ino said, "but I didn't mind a week, and I definitely didn't mind the weekend. With missions though, it'd be a lot harder 'cause I can put off going to a movie, or hanging out with friends, but I can't put off a mission."

Anakin nodded. "It's how my grandchilden ended up being raised by nanny droids and other caretakers."

Ino made a face. "At least mine had their dad, and I was around enough that it wasn't that bad from what they said. It's not... it's just a way of life? Doing missions, having kids, dad managed it for me, and they were, like, happy and everything. Two of them wanted to be ninja too."

Ken had already been in the Academy.

Anakin gave her a tiny, sympathetic smile. "It seems all of the young ones from my family also want to be Jedi. It's a difficult life to chose."

That was just going to get another shrug.

"Only if you've got people talking 'bout how hard it is all the time," she said. "Some people are better suited to that sort of life."

Reno saying that some of them were killers, some were dreamers, some with lovers and some were fighters. It sounded about right to her.

"I'm the embodiment of Jedi prophecy," Anakin replied a little sharply. "If anyone in the galaxy was made to be a Jedi, it was me. It doesn't mean that the life isn't hard."

"Prophecy?" Ino said, raising her eyebrows. "That doesn't mean you're suited to it. Suited to it means that you've got the right sort of personality. Your 'destiny' doesn't have anything to do with that."

And don't whine about it all the time. Ino stuffed that thought behind her shielding and hoped it didn't get through.

Anakin tried to shove his anger aside. "I am Jedi," he retorted.

"Yes," she said, "but that doesn't mean you've got the right personality, or anything. Same with ninja. If you pass the training, you can still be one even if it just means you're going to break a lot easier than those who're actually suited to the job."

Anakin looked dangerously close to exploding. "I sacrificed everything to be Jedi," he hissed. "Before I am Anakin, before I am a grandfather, or a father, or a friend, I am a Jedi. Little girls shouldn't spout off on things they don't understand."

He whirled on his heel and stalked away.

She shrugged and rolled her eyes.

Sacrifice didn't equal personality. It didn't mean they were suited to it either.
