Steve continued without waiting for an answer, with the relentless, merciless cheer of a man who'd cleaned marshmallow off every single surface in his kitchen recently. "Good. Let's get started."

She frowned at him, knowing there wasn't any point in arguing with Daddy when he was like this.

"Yes, Daddy," she said, attempting to look completely innocent and not at all like she was just thinking of another argument.
