Zero sits behind the collection's desk, back to the door, with her feet up on a table. She has headphones on, at a volume audible from outside the library, and is working on her laptop. Good luck getting her attention. Anyone entering the library would see that she is on CafePress.

On the table next to her is a large plate of chocolate chip cookies, with a sign: LIBRARY STAFF ONLY (and Hank).

"Oh, um, just some math homework.~~Sir. Damn it.~~" Finally coming back to herself from equation-land, she asks, "Hey, what's that smell? It smells like there was something burning in here."

Mac waves his hand a little to show there's nothing to worry about.

"Just was trying to get Zero's attention. Apparently they're a little touchy about the noise level."

~~Waaaay too touchy~~

Well, if he's not concerned...

She shakes her head. She's sure she'll get the full story out of Janet later.

"Huh. I didn't notice any noise level. Oh, before I forget--about tomorrow? How are interviews going to work, because I don't have a scheduled appointment or anything like that."

"No problem. I'll be in my office most of the day so just come in when you have time. Oh and wear clothes that you don't mind getting beat up a bit. It's more of a... tryout than an interview."

[OOC: I'll make a post in the morning with a thread for each TA. Just follow the instructions and go from there. Be prepared to "MacGyver" your way out of anything.]

"Gotcha." It would have been more difficult if he'd told me to wear nice clothes that I couldn't get dirty, honestly. "Wait. A tryout? Like what?"

[OOC: Got it. But now I'm a little concerned that Sam's going to be hampered by my lack of creativity.]

"Oh I can't give that away! Where's the fun in that? You'll just have to live in a little suspense."

[OOC: I'll post a reference to a MacGyver website for a reference for you guys. Or you can just tell Mac how great his mullet looks.]

Sam very nearly groans. She's not a big fan of suspense in the workplace. "Fun. Right."

[OOC: Thanks so much. I am familiar with the show, but that seems to involve a lot more chemistry than I remember. And I'll keep that in mind about the mullet.]

Mac laughs. "Hey... look at it this way. Every class will be self contained. No homework. Y'know. Unless you like that sort of stuff."

"No, thanks," she said, smiling, "I'm not addicted to the idea of homework. I'm really looking forward to the idea of a self-contained, practical class." Besides, I have the feeling that Professor Eppes will give me more than enough to think about in that department."

She pauses, then blurts, "Will there be room for me to work on my own projects after hours? Because I found a vintage Harley that I'd really like to work on restoring, to say nothing of the Jeep engine I'm trying to redesign, and, well, I need space, tools, and parts for that."

"Oh, and how do you feel about explosions?"

Mac laughs. "I have office hours every Thursday afternoon. You're welcome to work on your projects then. But no explosions unless I make them. Or approve of them."

Mac suddenly remembers something.

"So you have a Harley too? John Connor came by yesterday to fabricate something for his Harley."

[OOC: Any explosive stuff should be cleared with the Mods and me if it is going to be a REAL explosion not a Danger Room fake explosion.]

"Oh, that's great, Mac, thanks," she said. "I have Thursdays free, so that will work out nicely."

Sam winced. She did not need to hear that.

[OOC: Oh, of course. No plans for explosions, but Sam, being Sam, would want to know. I mean, dude, she blew up a sun.]

Mac smiles and leaves Sam to his work ~~fluffing his mullet as he leaves~~

"Good. I'll see you tomorrow at Tryout's"

[OOC: Well I had to throw you a little Angst. Especially after the way you dumped Connor's butt yesterday. Oh and explosion of the sun? Defintely going to need the Mod's approval for that.]

"Tomorrow, then. I can't wait." As he leaves, she returns to her equations.

[OOC: Because I didn't feel guilty enough about that already? Yeah, hiding out in the library for the foreseeable future, over here. Heh. Hopefully we'll never, ever need to do that.]

[OOC: Of course Connor is trying out for the TA Position as well. Mac could always pair you two up. *Evil Laugh*]

[OOC: Or you could just shoot Sam in the head and pair John and Jack up together for tryouts. *Not hiding under the bed.*]

[OOC: Tsk tsk. You *know* Mac doesn't use a gun. Points off for you Carter. He'd probably poke a hole in your head with the corkscrew attachment on his Swiss Army Knife. So do John and Jack not get along? Hmmm. Could be a very interesting class.

[*shamed at lack of recent Mac viewage* Actually, they did get along very well...until yesterday, and they haven't had a chance to interact since, so I'm really not sure how they're going to handle that. And interesting is definitely one word...]

[OOC: Well then it sounds like an excellent opportunity for me to throw them together and have them work out their issues. Or you and Connor together. Haven't decided yet. Heh. Heh. Heh. *rubs hands together in evil glee*]

[OOC: Would you accept an excuse of "too angsty to participate"? Also, Sam never mentioned Jack by name, so it's *possible* that John won't know who he's dealing with. You're evil! (But in a totally fun way that will give Sam lots to stomp around about later, so thanks)]
