Management Theory [Tuesday, April 7, 4th period]

Yzma was back and thoroughly uninterested in talking about how she'd gotten stuck as a kitten for two weeks, thank you very much.

The students might notice that only half of them were wearing spiffy lab coats and hats. The other half--horrors!--were clad in hairnets and paper hats.

"Today we will be working in fast food!" Yzma said. "Dealing with peasants is very important blah, blah I don't believe that, no one should...but everyone, even peasants, need food." She made a face. "Apparently. So! Half of you will be customers! Make your order as complicated as possible! Demand pizza even though this is clearly a sandwich shop! Ask for only 17 ice cubes in your drinks! People in hairnets! Serve the peasants as passive-aggressively as possible without them calling for your manager! Excellent!"

Thunder cracked behind her as she laughed.

"I'd like to order a curry please," Helen informed one of the hairnetted ones.

"We don't have curry," Jamie grumbled. "We have sandwiches. It's a sandwich shop. It's what we serve."

There was also a good deal of fussing with the hairnet a it was uncomfortable as hell.

"I demand a curry. A particularly spicy one," Helen said firmly. "With a vanilla milkshake - no half vanilla, half chocolate - and a cupcake. Please."

"We don't have any of that. Ma'am," Jamie said dryly. "We have a menu. Would you like that?"

"Hello... A menu is hardly the same as a curry!" Helen said in an aggravated tone. "Give me a curry!"

"But there isn't curry on the menu," Jamie said politely waving the menu at Helen. "We don't even have curry in the store. We have salami?"

She blinked at him. "Can't you see that no matter how much salami you offer me it will never be a curry?"

"But we don't have curry! ... Ma'am."

She sighed. "Fine. I'll just have a curry then. Less spicy, if you must."

There was a thunk. That was Jamie hitting the counter with his head.

"Fine. Curry. What did you want to drink?"

"A half vanilla and half chocolate ice cream. With mocha. No fat."

Helen was trying very hard not to laugh at this point.

"Right."

Jamie turned around and make a salami sandwich and poured her a glass of lemonade.

"Here you go ma'am. That'll be seventy-five dollars."

"It's too cold," Helen complained. "I wanted it hot."

"It is hot," Jamie assured her. "Normally this is served at sub-zero temperatures."

Helen couldn't keep up the act anymore and just broke into giggles.

"Thank you!" Jamie said happily shoving the tray toward Helen. "Come again!"
