Movie Appreciation: Week 11, Period 3 (Fri. 3/27)

Ronon stood at the podium, right in front of the center of the movie screen, awaiting the class to arrive. "So the internet says documentary films are made to capture reality on film. Other stuff says that the act of filming changes the reality. What you guys are gonna do is easy. Before we watch our movie, you're each gonna come up here and tell us some part of your life that would make a good documentary. Embellish it, whatever," Ronon shrugged, he really didn't care if they blatantly lied so long as they said something. He pointed to someone at random as he stepped away from the podium, "You, go first."

When everyone had finished their chance at talking, Ronon got back up in front of the group. "Okay, now that we've gotten some ideas of...weird stuff that could be a Fandom documentary, we're gonna watch meta for March of the Penguins and see if we can't get some of you to cry." He was teasing, but there were still tissue boxes at the ready.

"All the different wildlife in Fandom would make for a good documentary," Peter said. "'course when they march they might have floats and a brass band going with them."

"Dinah film these some weeks ago," Firekeeper replied, giving Peter a confused look. "They no float. Or have brass band."

"My... dad is a musician," Angela shared after a moment. "He's already had documentaries made about his life."

Just one or two. Or several.

Firekeeper shrugged. "Maybe some would be finding how real wolves is living interesting?" she said. "But, I not know if I could be getting them to agree being filmed."

"People would love to see it, though. Wolf films do really well, and there was one about wolves in the arctic a few years back that was real popular," Dinah said, thinking aloud. "Maybe if the wolves had input?" She grinned. "That would make it new."

"I got attacked by a bear and lived to tell the tale," Emmett said. That was only kind of a lie. He most certainly did not live to tell the tale.

Dinah thought about it, then said, "My Uncle Jim is police commissioner of New Gotham. A documentary on his life would probably make a great movie for all the cop stuff, but he'd never agree to cooperate with it."

Which actually might make it kind of fun to do. For someone who didn't mind getting arrested.

"My family is one of the more important ones in my home town," Romeo shared. "We've been on television" -- mostly on the gossip shows, though of course Juliet and Tybalt's deaths were on the news for days -- "but I think just our history would be a tale of some interest."

It sounded like a bland and self-important answer, and to some extent it was. But any answer centered on his dead wife, which would be Romeo's other option, was too intimate for such a audience.

"Life as a high school student at Fandom," Peyton said drily. "Come on, people would love it. They wouldn't believe it was real, but they'd love it."

"People would definitely love it," Adam agreed. "I have a feeling a few of my friends back home would want to see it."

"Oh yeah," Peyton agreed. "They'd think it was some crazy movie we'd put together, but they'd love to see it."

"I suppose you could document a hunt," Dean said. "As long as the documentary crew didn't get eaten or anything."

"The harpy invasion would've made a good film," Tony said. "No one would believe it was real, but they'd watch."

"Well I've helped my Uncle out on his variety show. And actually it was made into a documentary TV show."

"Unlike all of you peons, my life is GOING to be a documentary," Sokka informed them haughtily.

"...Alright, a story, actually. Maybe an epic poem. Maybe a play, if I'm lucky. We're a bit short on movie cameras back home. But saving the world's gotta make us a little famous, right?"

He paused for a moment.

"...And, okay, it's not so much MY life as my friend's, but I'm going to feature heavily in it!"

"The gremlins deserve a documentary. Something covering their lifestyle and how they attack the students of Fandom," John said.

"Uh, the Autobots would make a good documentary?" Sam said. "Except they're classified."

"I'm sure film makers will be vying to be the one to document my life once I become the world's youngest Nobel Prize winner," Rodney stated. He really believed it, too.
