Library, Sunday

Being himself this week meant Lee was a lot less rambunctious and a lot more calm during his library shift. He was still a little agitated for the fact that he'd lost something important but he wasn't taking that agitation out on the books or by running up and down the aisles.

No, later, he'd just punch a wall or something.

For now, he was paging through a catalog he'd requested on a whim, checking out a few different things and wondering if he could make it work. It was a complete whim and he still had no idea what he wanted to do after graduation but things were becoming a little clearer, at least.

And the catalog had pictures, if anything.

"Especially if you mentioned jar stealing and...did you say...candy licking?"

Cal would have told himself not to laugh, but laughing, he realized, probably made a better case toward clearly not being the candy-licker. "Gross. Kids are messed up, man."

"Ugh! So maybe that little girl was doing you a favor by stealing your jar!"

Even if it made Cal a little sad, because then Lee could have joined a slowly building, illustrious rank of 'people who wound up eating Cal's spit on a weird ass weekend.'

"Little you sounds like he was very....resourceful."

"Okay," Cal snorted a laugh. "I've got a brother, so I can get that one."

"And I'm sure that'd go over well with your girlfriend," Cal noted. "If a slightly chewed and spit piece of heart is a cutting offense, I'm not sure I want to think of what a broken jar would mean."

"There is a certain....poetry to it," Cal had to admit. "A messed up poetry, but still. Very Poe. I now feel validated in my earlier comparison."

Cal was utterly unsurprised. He shook his head, and could only say it again.

"That's messed up, man."

Granted, he had a freakout factor for any girl he ever dated, but he fully acknowledged that it was very messed up.
