After yesterday, Sam was seriously hoping for a quiet day in the library. Thanks to the radio, he was expecting the crabs, but the palm trees were a very pleasant surprise, and it took a lot less time than usual for Sam to feel settled in behind the desk.

"What kind of boyfriend would I be if I made you miss coffee and donuts?" Peter asked.

"One who ignores the fact that he can heal himself and doesn't put himself in harm's way?" Sam suggested.

"Flight was actually the more useful power there," Peter pointed out.

"That doesn't change the putting yourself in harm's way part," Sam pointed out.

"I'm pretty sure it does," Peter said. "Since it involves the avoiding harm's way part."

"Harpies can fly too! They could have knocked you out of the sky!" Sam said, perfectly aware that he was getting slightly irrational.

"Not unless they can break the sound barrier," Peter said, smugly.

"You...you could have burned yourself with the coffee flying that fast," Sam said, not out of worries yet.

Okay that was actually cute. "Then you should kiss me so I get better."

Who cared if that made no logical sense?

Sam gave Peter another dirty look, but he certainly didn't mind taking the opportunity to kiss him again. "I just want you to be safe," he said quietly.

"I was," Peter promised. He went to put his arms around Sam's shoulders to try to keep Sam close. "I owe it to my boyfriend after all."

It was kind of embarrassing how the word "boyfriend" still made Sam smile. "Exactly. If I'm not allowed to put myself into danger, neither are you."

"How are you feeling by the way?" Peter asked. He looked Sam over to see if any damage remained from yesterday.

"I'm okay, thanks to you," Sam said. "Still a little sore, but I'm not going to have you spending your energy on that."

"Could always give you a massage," Peter suggested.

The mental image Sam got when he thought about that was enough to make him blush. "Really? I think I like the sound of that," he said.

"If you don't mind having me stay with you tonight," Peter said, as though that might be a problem.

"I might ask for the massage really late so you have no choice but to stay overnight," Sam said, looking pleased with himself for that idea.

"I'd say we have a deal," Peter told him. He went to get a kiss of his own.

A deal sealed with a kiss, Sam thought, as he closed the space between them.
