Movie Appreciation: Week 8, Period 3 (Fri. 3/6)

After taking a nice nap, err, meditating for a period, Ronon was ready to focus on movies. He'd come across something very interesting during the week while he was recovering from the spa the cruise. That thing would be silent film.

And so Ronon stood at his podium and hit play to display a very low-class PowerPoint presentation on the large theater screen behind him. Instrumental music accompanied the presentation wherein students were shown a silent film and told to speak to each other via notecards. No oral communication would be permitted. And those who couldn't help talking would be glared at.

While students mingled for discussion, questions flashed on the screen: Q1: How do you like the music? Q2: What did you do over break?

[1. The film is embedded in the presentation, I only linked it again in case the presentation doesn't work for some reason.
2. Click 'Start Presentation' to see the slideshow!
3. NO TALKING.
4. There are plenty of notecards and markers for all.
5. Sorry to people who can't read/write, miming and gestures are encouraged.]

Dinah grinned, knowing that Blind Seer and Blysse could still talk, which was technically cheating but hey, if Mr. Dex didn't know, they wouldn't get into trouble for it. She pointed back at the movie screen for Blysse, and put her eyebrows up questioningly. Then held up another card with a frowny face on it, holding both out to Blysse to choose.

Then, to Blind Seer, she wrote: Fun break while we were gone?

Really, if she could think of a way to get an answer beyond yes/no, she'd come up with more interesting questions.

Firekeeper... hadn't paid all that much attention to the film. So she pointed first at one, then the other.

As for Blind Seer, about the only words he recognized were "fun" and "gone", but it was enough to get the gist of what she was saying. Another nod.

Dinah grinned at Blind Seer, then couldn't resist scratching behind his ears. Then she pantomimed a light-saber to show her favorite part to Blysse, making a zshroooom noise under her breath, even though the movie hadn't had any.

TAHIRI has she wrote, showing the card to Blind Seer again, unsure if he'd recognize Tahiri's name written down.

He didn't, actually, and so the wolf just tilted his head at Dinah and let out a confused huff. That the headtilt allowed for better ear-scritching was entirely coincidental, really.

[at work & using cell phone to ping, so will be pretty slow for a while.]

Which she immediately did, even though she knew he was quite possibly faking and being a smartass.

Dinah shrugged at Blysse, having run out of conversational gambits that required no talking or writing for the movie, and drew a little tree. Then some deer.

Okay, someone might think they were deer.

Firekeeper squinted at the image, and then just gave Dinah a confused look. It wasn't a comment on her drawing skills so much as it was one on the wolf-girl's ability to discern meaning from pictures.

Dinah frowned at it, then made little antlers with her fingers, putting them on her head.

She looked at Dinah, at the drawing, and then back at Dinah.

And then let out a slightly muffled chortle which she quickly hid behind a fist.

Dinah rolled her eyes, then couldn't resist wiggling her fingers and giggling.
