Library; Monday [ 03/02 ].

Feeling pretty grumpy as he clung to his coffee and open the library, Cal was wondering if they could have their vacation back. Please? Pretty please? With a cherry on top.

Sighing, he resolved to try to stave off the back to school blues by doodling a little more in his notebook and trying to make something out of all his little scribbled spurts of inspiration.

Cal took a moment to think back.

"Shut up," he said. "Anything that happened before spring break is officially wiped from my brain ~~and that was a rough week for the mun~~."

"Anything that happened before spring break?" she teased ~~and the mun completely understands!~~. "Should I remember to do any awful things, if they come up, right before it then next year so you won't remember after the break?"

"Anything school related, Ino," Cal clarified. "AKA the unimportant stuff."

She pouted at him. "It was totally worth a shot," Ino insisted.

"Why," Cal asked, "would you want to do awful things to me, anyway?"

"I wouldn't want to," she said, wrinkling her nose at him. "But stuff has a tendency to happen, so it was a just-in-case sort of thing."

"'Should I remember to do any awful things' sure doesn't sound like 'stuff' having a 'tendency' to happen..."

Um.

Ino grinned innocently at him. "Small details?"

Cal just rolled his eyes, shaking his head.

"Too small to deal with, right?"

"Maybe," she said, still looking innocent. "I mean, it's not like I get in trouble that often, right?"

Oh Ino.

Cal was not even going to say anything to that. His look said it all.

"I've been good lately!" she said defensively.

Because good totally involved ripping into Liir's every fault.

"Lately," Cal agreed with a nod. "I think we almost got into a whole thing recently, but I can't remember details. The cruise fried my brain to a delightful ignorance."

"With children," she said, making a face. "So we'll ignore it 'cause then I'd have to hit you and I don't want to hit you 'cause at least you didn't get married while drunk and get married to the wrong person."

...

"...I didn't either, just in case you were confused."

Oh, that was right. No wonder Cal blocked it out of his head; the whole Ino-Mother thing just set off way too many of his inherent incest sensors.

"And people wonder why I don't drink. I did actually end up drinking, a little, and...yeah. Alcohol is evil. The only thing it's good for is numbing you when you really need it. The end."

"What did you do?" she asked, frowning a bit at him. "And I didn't drink at all. Because people're stupid 'bout the age limits."

"I just played I Never," Cal said. "I am the last person in the world who should play I Never. Especially with my girlfriend in the room."

Ino considered that for a few minutes.

"...then why did you do it?"

"I...have no idea."

Actually, he knew exactly why he did it, but he wasn't about to tell Ino that he did it because everyone else was and he was tired of getting crap about stuff because he didn't want to get hit.

"Dork," she said easily. "Be strong against peer pressure!"

"There was no peer pressure," Cal insisted. Because imagined and self-inflicted peer pressure didn't count.

She raised her eyebrows.

"But you don't normally drink, and you hate it?"

"It was spring break," Cal shrugged. "A time to try new things, right? I think I'm firmly right back on my no drinking footing. I just get really...depressed when I drink."

Ino eyed him.

"Come bug me if you're depressed," she ordered. "And I'll either piss you off, or give you a hug, and either is totally better than being depressed."

"Or you'll punch me," Cal noted.
