Movie Appreciation: Week 7, Period 3 (Fri. 2/20)

Movie students would be pleased (or disappointed, who knows!) to see they were back to their regular movie theater sans-treadmills or any other gym equipment. Look, Ronon was being kind or something.

He leaned against the podium and gestured at the opening image frozen on the screen. "Today we're talking about trilogies. You all know that Space Battles thing and we saw part of the Fatal Rock trilogy, and I'd bet some of you know those Fabulous Foursome comic book movies, so the question for today is this: Are all trilogies created equal? Can sports movies hold up to three incarnations as well as action or science fiction? You be the judge. Then? Have a catfight. It was the goal of these, after all."

And then he made them watch clips of all three versions of ~~meta for~~ Bring it On. There was a cheerleader theme happening this week.

John glared at Rodney. "Yes, swarms. I'm glad you're here to act as a repellent."

"What?! Really?" Rodney was half out of his seat before he'd even finished both words. "What are you doing here infesting everyone else and more importantly me?"

John rolled his eyes. "Rodney, exactly how gullible are you?"

"Hey, you never know what might happen around here," Rodney muttered defensively as he retook his seat. "Better safe than sorry, I always say."

"You acted like you were allergic to ants," John replied, looking Rodney over. "And I'm pretty sure that's not possible."

"There are poisonous ants, you know," Rodney glared. "That means they're deadly to everyone, even you."

"Whatever, there are no ants in my pants, and if you must know I just happened to suffer a slight accident the other night," John shared. Yes, his ass was feeling rather broken.

"That seems to be going around," he nodded. "I found my roommate clutching an icepack yesterday." Rodney wasn't quite enough of a gossip to mention exactly where Sokka had been clutching it.

"Maybe there's an outbreak of clumsiness," John wondered.

"Yeah, right," Rodney scoffed. "Like that could happen- no, wait, what am I thinking? Of course, that could happen here," he rolled his eyes. "Although, it wouldn't account for the fact that we've been stuck with ice water in the shower for days," Rodney assumed everyone had been similarly afflicted with bad plumbing. "That is in no way a reflection on any clumsiness someone may possess naturally or otherwise. Unless, of course, it's the idiot who broke the plumbing in the first place."

"Ice water? My shower's been working just fine," John said, confused. Of course, if he had been lucky there would have been ice water, but no.

"Huh," Rodney considered this. "Maybe there's something that's only effecting the pipes at a certain time of day. In which case, it really sucks to be me."

"Considering we're on the same floor, I'm wondering what time you shower," John said. "No matter how wrong that sounds."

Rodney didn't pay attention to any inherent wrongness in the question as he was caught up considering the problem. "Actually, depending on what time my first class is and if I'm going to the lab or haven't actually slept- oh no! It really is me!"

"You sure you know how to work the faucet?"

"This ain't my first rodeo, cowboy," Rodney shot back.

"What do you know about cowboys? Aren't you Canadian?" John may have missed the point of the quip.

Rodney closed his eyes and let his head fall to the back of the seat. "Aside from the fact that there are indeed cattle in Canada, all I meant was 'duh.' In the future, I'll be sure to avoid responses that involve anything more than single syllable answers just for your benefit," he added in his customary quick manner as he waved a hand in John's direction.

"There are cattle in Canada? Lemme guess, they breed mad cow."

Someone was sidetracked easily.

Rodney rolled his eyes. "Oh, look! Cheerleaders!" He pointed at the screen.

"It seems someone took your idea," John said, thoughtfully watching girls in short skirts.

"And, naturally, I got no credit for it," he huffed.

"Just be glad you get a class of sitting around watching girls frolic on screen," John reminded him. "At least we get a reprieve from musicals or whatever for another two weeks."

"Musicals," Rodney shuddered. "Whoever thought those were a good idea should be shot."

"Five bucks says some idiot sings along," John said, hurting himself when he shuddered at the thought.
