Phys. Ed: Week 7, Period 1 (Fri. 2/20)

The Danger Shop was still a gym and the man with the whistle was still Ronon, but in the spirit of spring break, there was a special assignment for the day and a whole slew of mats to do it on.

"Congratulations, today you're all cheerleaders," Ronon announced happily. "Being a Gremlin for a day is an honor and will be treated as such. There's a handout with a list of cheers and tumbling routine ideas. You guys get to perform for the class as a group, pairs, or on your own for your midterm test." He was mean. "Now, for the day your normal uniforms have been replaced with complete cheerleading uniforms and pom poms. Get suited up and have fun."

Claire was definitely down with the hanging out and complaining. She got on a mat and started stretching out as slowly as possible, though, so she'd at least look like she was doing something.

Worf stepped up in his dead sexy tight gold shorts and his v-neck cheer shirt.

He even had pom-poms.

However instead of doing a cheer from the list he went with a translation of an old Klingon battle song.

"And the blood was ankle deep!
And the River Skral ran crimson red!
On the day above all days!
When Kahless slew evil Molor dead!"

There was a coordinated use of mok'bara moves but in place of a bat'leth there were pom-poms.

Normally a Klingon would never do such a routine but as TA, Worf had to set an example.

Priestly stared. He opened his mouth to comment. Then closed it and stared some more.

". . . Wow."

"Enough gawking," he growled. "Cheer."

"Like that? 'Cause, uh, I don't know any blood-and-destruction cheers."

"Then use the cheers provided," Worf ordered.

"I couldn't possibly follow up your stunning example of cheeriness."

Worf gritted his teeth and growled.

"CHEER!"

"You're not putting me in a very cheerful mood."

"That is not a prerequisite for cheering," Worf grumbled.

"It is if you wanna do it right. Now, come on. How about a 'please'?"

"Wow!" Momoko clapped enthusiastically. "And much better than the 'cosine tangent 999' or whatever chant that's in the handout! Is that one of the school's actual cheers?"

There was no way that Jack was going to do some solo cheerleading thing. If anything, he was doing it in pairs or in groups. Stupid socks.

He may have been checking out a few of his classmates... Just, y'know, to see if they're just as mad. Really.

Reno... Wasn't so big on the cheering thing, really. But shit, he never turned down the opportunity to show off a little. So, backflips. Backflips and tumbling, and the occasional waving of the pompoms, and if anyone just so happened to want to partner off with him in the meantime, so be it.

Momoko was not at all attempting to use her phone to take pictures of him in that gold outfit for Rikku. Nope.

It was somewhere in the middle of a flip that had him upside-down and twisted about weirdly that Reno noticed the camera was going off.

"HEY!"

And that would be Reno, landing on his face.

Protests really should wait until the acrobatics were finished. Really.

Oooh! Momoko cringed slightly, then peeked to see if she'd managed to get the shot of him falling. Nope. She took one of him on the ground instead, then walked over. "Hey yourself! You're really good at this! That was a really cool flip just now, but it looks like you may need more practice with it. Need a hand up?"

Reno's reply was something of an incoherent grumble into the mat and a shake of his head as he pushed himself up again.

"'M fine, 'M good. Never better. I usually land that one, zoto."

Just apparently not with an audience.

"Well, if you usually land this way, I'd suggest you try a different flip because it's not really a very pretty landing. Even on the mats." She grinned and turned her phone around to show him his face planted into the padding.

Reno was going to take that opportunity to check out his reflection on the phone's screen and fix his hair.

Okay. Good to go.

"I'll have to work on that, then, huh?"

"Totally have to work on it." Momoko agreed and closed her phone when he was done. "But seriously, your flips, the ones you were doing before? They really are good! I don't know how you managed to get so high and make yourself twist and turn like that! Unless you can actually fly, because it looks like you're swimming in the air for some of them. It's really awesome."

"Nah. Can't fly, but I'll take the compliment." Reno grinned and gave his shoulders a shrug. "You just practise enough, you can pull off junk like that, yo."

"I am fairly sure talent has to be in there somewhere, too, you know? Unless you're like one of those ancient society of monks who's been trained since birth in a secret style of martial arts but then you left to experience the real world and now use those skills in everyday life even though the monks keep sending people after you to bring you back or kill you." She watched entirely too much tv.
