For Movie Appreciation, the Danger Shop was transformed into the usual auditorium with a strange new twist. There was a giant pool of icy water off to the side with floating slabs of driftwood strewn about.

Ronon sat on the edge of the stage, waiting for students to take their seats before introducing the day's movie. "I'm told for people from the right time, Titanic is a classic romance. I watched it, and I gotta tell you, if that's romance, Earth is screwed." For serious. "So this guy falls for some girl and shows her how to live or something. Then the boat they're on gets hit by a block of ice and sinks. Now, I know, spoilers or something are bad? Whatever, if I tell you everyone ends up in icy water like that," he pointed to the tank, "you tell me how many people live or die."

"Right, so let's ~~suffer through Celine~~ watch some parts of it and get a feel for this movie before you guys stick yourselves in the water and decide if the chick could've made some space for that guy on her plank. Still think it's true love and romance?" He flicked a switch on the remote and started up the clips.

John coughed, elbowing Rodney to get him to pay attention (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/2018607.html?thread=128674351#t128674351). "I bet they get out of this."

"Hey! Is that really necessary?" Rodney asked before looking at the girls talking to Dex. "That is so not fair."

"Girls have it so easy," John complained. "They get the romance movie to watch and flash a teacher to get out of the ice water."

"While I'll probably end up with hypothermia," Rodney said morosely.

"We need a plan," John decided. "A plan for next week."

"To get out of the next insane class activity? How do you know he'll do another one? Wait, this is Dex, of course he will. Not that it will matter because I'll be dead from the hypothermia," Rodney add bitchily.

"Nobody's gonna die, Rodney," John said with some degree of exasperation. "Think, what's some way we could get out of participating?"

"We could fake our own deaths," Rodney was sort hung up on the whole dying thing at the moment.

"You're stuck on this death thing, huh?" John wasn't really asking. "But faking might require knowing the activity in advance."

Rodney sighed. "Any specific excuses would require knowing what we needed to be excused from," he agreed. "Illness would work in general, but if we both had the same thing it'd have to be something really contagious for it to be believable. However, if that's the case, we wouldn't be in class at all."

"Okay," John said slowly. "So no illness. How about injury? Or blatant refusal?"

"You try refusing that man," Rodney suggested. "I'll watch. Although..." he trailed off in consideration.

"What?" John asked. "You look like you're on to something."

"Well, the thing is," Rodney glanced around suspiciously before leaning in towards John and lowering his voice. "Sometimes, I get the impression that he's just following some sort of mixed-up guidelines about what teachers are supposed to do even though he doesn't really care. For example, in gym class last semester, he made us wear uniforms. Normal high school gym class sort of thing, right?" He didn't wait for any sign of John's acknowledgment. "But, when we were doing stupid stuff like bowling or watching a movie, I never bothered with the uniform and he never said a thing," Rodney finished triumphantly.

"Really?" John wondered what was up with that. "So your theory is that we can get away with doing no work and still pass?"

"Um, sort of," Rodney agreed. "I mean, I for one am still planning to turn in all the assignments and whatnot. However, it might be possible that we could just sit here and continue our 'very intense discussion of the movie' until the end of the period without ever going near the water."

"Wait, there are assignments?" John missed that part.

"Not a lot," he answered. "I have doubts about whether or not the caveman can read, so I'm sure you'll be fine," he patted John's arm in a attempt at reassurance.
