Movie Appreciation: Week 4, Period 3 (Fri. 1/30)

Back in the Danger Shop for Movie Appreciation, Ronon leaned against the podium and collected last week's homework from anyone who had it when they came in. Once people seemed settled, he began the lecture, if you could call it that. "Today we're watching the comedic sporting movie, Blades of Triumph.

Pay attention, 'cause after the movie you're gonna do a write up to tell me how men and women dancing around on ice is a sport and whether or not the title fits the movie. If you think it does, I wanna know why. If you think it doesn't, make up a new title." Ronon thought this was easy enough, but he could be wrong. "You've only gotta stick around for the first hour, after that you're free to go or to stay and see the end. Since we've got a full feature, I brought popcorn." Shockingly, he brought enough to share. It was a mystery why the big guy was in such a good mood today.

Oh, Angela was more than happy to sit back, nibble at popcorn and watch. This was the awesome kind of class.

Penelope definitely enjoyed popcorn, and she was rather amazed at the movie.

The things one can learn.

Robin was giggling like a giggling thing almost the entire time.

Emmett loved this movie. Once he told Edward he smelled like aftershave and taco meat.

That hadn't gone over well.

It was funny, though.

Romeo was laughing for most of the movie. Even he could see those costumes were over the top.

Peyton settled in with popcorn to watch the movie and wondered if she could talk Dean into doing something this weekend.

Dinah threw some popcorn at him, then innocently looked back at the screen.

Wasn't her. Nope.

There may have been a note flying in Peter's direction.

Party on Sunday. (No, a different one.) You're coming, right?

Claudia loooooved the costumes.

Her outfit (she'd never call it a costume. It was an homage) was very similar to Ronon's. If Ronon had gone insane and hit his leather with a Bedazzler. She'd even managed to twist her hair into a rough approximation of the teacher's dreads. On anyone else, it would be grounds for detention. On Claudia, it looked great.

But was probably still grounds for detention.

Bender didn't need popcorn to watch people fall over on the ice, he had plenty enough schadenfreude for that. The popcorn was a bonus, a sticky rattling bonus.

If not for the popcorn, Rodney would be sleeping. Hadn't they already watched this one?

Brooke settled in to watch the movie, deciding she absolutely loved this class. It was actually just a bonus, and not the focus, that the teacher was hot.

It's a sport because it requires physical effort, and you get points. So you can compete. Competition plus physicality makes it a sport. Ballroom dancing you only get style points, so that doesn't count. Ice dancing and ice skating mean taking risks that your head will get broken open. It's just kind of a lamely dressed sport set to sometimes even lamer music.

Plus, no. Not Blades of Triumph. Doofmeisters on Ice.
