Sam was very glad to have power for his library shift this week, as much as he'd enjoyed finding...alternative ways to stay warm. He'd gotten up early enough to manage a stop for coffee on his way in, and was already halfway done with the cup by the time he got the doors open.

Sam rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help but laugh. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, at least."

"Come on," Dean cajoled. "You'd loved to have seen it too, admit it."

"Yeah, I would have," Sam said. "I like watching you put people in their place, even if I feel bad about it."

"Some people deserve it."

"I still feel bad," Sam said, shrugging.

"Get over it," Dean suggested. "You don't need to waste any time feeling bad over Bass getting punched."

"Only if he ever punches you back," Sam replied.

Dean snorted. "Guy's all BS and no bite," he said. "But if he ever did, you have my permission to punch him too."

Sam thought about that and couldn't hide the way he grinned. "That would be worth getting into trouble."

"That's my boy," Dean praised him.
