Sex Ed, Monday [1-26] Third Period

Today a large poster was displayed at the front of the classroom. "I would just like to start by saying I had nothing to do with the creation of this poster," Steve said, looking faintly embarrassed about it. "But it has an important message. You can't always tell by looking at someone whether they have a venereal disease or not. They may not even know it. That's why protection is so important, and why abstinence is the only really effective way of preventing the spread of disease. Today we're going to have a little exercise to demonstrate this.

"You have the rest of the class period free to mingle and eat these cookies I brought. There is only one requirement: you must shake hands with anyone you talk to. And there is a catch. One of you is--hypothetically, of course--carrying a disease, which is transferred by the shaking of hands. I will tell you who at the end of the period. But don't worry about that for now. Chat. Enjoy the cookies."

((Edit: Disease vector revealed!))

Oh, he didn't think he'd live this down.

"Well, er, I can make oranges and, uh, a few other fruits. But for the longest time I had this, well, this block. I couldn't make them taste right. They always tasted like orange and something else."

Beat.

"I got a bacon orange once. I gave it to Miss Lulu, the cooking instructor. I thought it would be best."

He had no idea what she'd done with it. It was probably best he didn't.

"A bacon orange," Ned repeated slowly. "There was bacon in your orange?"

Ned spent a moment trying to imagine what bacon and orange tasted like together.

"I'm going to be checking my oranges for bacon now."

He shook his head.

"No, it was a perfectly normal orange. It just tasted like bacon."

He looked around.

"The girls" and by this he meant Ino and Amber, "usually like the chocolate ones, though."

"Oh!" Okay, that made more sense because Ned's mind had started seeing bits of bacon smushed into oranges and it just seemed wrong. "Where'd they come from? Your home?"

"Er, not quite, no. Bit of a magical accident, not that it hasn't been useful. And rather delicious on occasion. I could make you one, if you like."

"Magic?" Ned repeated. He seemed to be doing that a lot. "It was a magical accident before but now you can kinda do it when you want?"

He nodded.

"I haven't done it for a while, but yes. Odd flavored and normal. And apples, occasionally, but not as much."

"At least you can do more than just bacon and orange," he said and laughed. "That'd be sort of...tiring after awhile, I think."

Agreed.

"The coconut curry ones are actually rather good," he had to admit. Then he laughed.

"I almost want to offer to make a load of them for cooking club. Make it into a game or something."

"Oh, you should!" Ned said, able to see the opportunities that could provide now that he was thinking. "I could give you hand if you needed it but yeah, that'd be fun."

Liir couldn't help laughing a little.

"I wouldn't mind it," he told Ned, "just let me know. It doesn't take long."

Re: Activity

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Probably not this week but next, definitely," Ned said. "Since, it looks like we'll have power this week, I can do what we were supposed to do last week."

Re: Activity

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"What're we doing?" he asked with some interest, "though, if it's a surprise, you don't have to tell me."

Re: Activity

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, no, it's not a surprise," Ned said, waving a hand. "It was supposed to be more of an icebreaker just to ease people back into things. So, we were going to do breakfast foods. Best way to start a day, best way to start...a new session of the club."

Ned blushed.

"It sounds kind of dopey saying it out loud."

Re: Activity

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
He shook his head.

"Makes enough sense to me. They're simple, filling, and the skills used are good building blocks to other things. Miss Lulu started her class similarly."

Re: Activity

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was really craving an omelet when I came up with that so it might be a bit of a personal bias too," Ned admitted with another blush.

Re: Activity

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's that as well," he had to agree with a grin.

Re: Activity

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'd say I think about food too much but I don't think there's such a thing," Ned decided.

Re: Activity

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"You and I both," he said before glancing around.

"Best we shake, though, since we're supposed to."

He held out a hand.

Re: Activity

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Right," Ned said, offering his hand.

Re: Activity

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
He took it and gave it a good, firm shake.

"There. That's done, thank goodness."

He finally took a bite of the bacon cookie.

"It really is rather good."

Re: Activity

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll take your word for it," Ned said and laughed.

Re: Activity

Liir gave a playful bow.

"Glad to play the Guinea Pig."
