Movie Appreciation: Week 3, Period 3 (Fri. 1/23)

Upper body draped over the top of a podium next to the large Danger Shop-created auditorium screen, Ronon waited for the film class to file in and take their seats. "Hope you had fun navigating the dark. Might've prepared you a little for class. Everybody likes swords right?" He expected some nodding from the group. "Today's movie is Blind Fury, about a blind guy who's pissed off and takes out bad guys with his cane. It's also a samurai sword."

Ronon cued the lights to dim before the most interesting of the interesting battle scenes from the movie played on the big screen. "Yeah, the kid's annoying as hell, but he offers up something I guess. Your task this week: Take a survey. Find out from three people what they'd be best at if they went blind and why. You can do it in class now or before next week's class. Just be prepared to report back." Oh the irony of Ronon asking for reports. "Get to work."

"That's because they're animals," Claudia declared, swinging her hair (http://www.braidedimage.com/img42.gif). In honor of the heat coming back on today, Claudia had dressed like she was going to a Hawaiian luau: pink grass skirt, colorful shirt, and jeweled flipflops. On anyone else, her toes would've fallen off walking to class. On Claudia, it looked great.

Marco blinked at Claudia. "Well, yeah. But the point was that sometimes I couldn't see because there are animals that don't see." The outfit had caused him to skip a logic step there. That was his story and he was sticking to it.

"But you're not an animal," Claudia felt compelled to point out.

Marco was totally blaming the outfit. "Oh yeah. I can turn into animals." He said very casually. "The real cool, or very weird depending on the animal, part is that you also feel like the actual animal."

Claudia's jaw dropped. "Shut up," she said. "No you can't."

"Can too." Marco said, like the five year old he was.

"People can't turn into animals!" Claudia flailed.

"I can!" Marco said proudly. "I got to save the world too!"

"Why is everyone here so weird?!"

Marco tried to not to look at her outfit too pointedly. "It's a weird school?"

The outfit was totally artistic. Completely different.

"There's a difference between quirky and people turning into animals."

"Turning into animals is a quirk." Marco said, with a big grin. "A very cool quirk."

"Nuh uh," Claudia decided maturely.

"Uh huh." Marco said with equal maturity. "Where are you from?"

"Connecticut," Claudia said. "Nice, normal Connecticut."

Marco nodded. "I'm from the LA area."

"Do you know any movie stars?" Claudia asked.

"Brad Pitt is going to play me in an upcoming movie?" Marco said, totally not bragging.

"Nuh-uh!" Claudia squealed.

Marco pulled out his rather shinny cell phone and produced the right photo. Sometimes, it was really good to be him. "Uh huh!" ~~Some days, I love my canon.~~

"OMIGOD!" Claudia squealed.

"They were going to ask Johnny Depp but apparently he was just too emo looking." Marco informed her. "And there was a protest or something saying that since I was half-Hispanic they should find a half-Hispanic actor. But Brad Pitt was so much better suited."

"Because he is smoking hot?" Claudia said.

"Oh hell yeah." Marco said with a very large grin. "Who can deny that only the best is good enough to play me?"

Claudia snickered. "I think I'll deny it."
