Movie Appreciation: Week 3, Period 3 (Fri. 1/23)

Upper body draped over the top of a podium next to the large Danger Shop-created auditorium screen, Ronon waited for the film class to file in and take their seats. "Hope you had fun navigating the dark. Might've prepared you a little for class. Everybody likes swords right?" He expected some nodding from the group. "Today's movie is Blind Fury, about a blind guy who's pissed off and takes out bad guys with his cane. It's also a samurai sword."

Ronon cued the lights to dim before the most interesting of the interesting battle scenes from the movie played on the big screen. "Yeah, the kid's annoying as hell, but he offers up something I guess. Your task this week: Take a survey. Find out from three people what they'd be best at if they went blind and why. You can do it in class now or before next week's class. Just be prepared to report back." Oh the irony of Ronon asking for reports. "Get to work."

[ooc: can you guess the theme of the ocd?]

Okay, this was something Angela recognised. After all, it had only come out a couple of years ago to her.

She sat back to watch, only pulling a little face when he cut some guy's hand off. Ew.

Penelope stared, eyes wide, at the screen.

Huh. John wondered where the big guy found these movies, or if he was just up way too late watching HBO.

Romeo had never seen this movie before, but he wished he had. It was pretty awesome.

Brooke had no idea what this movie was or where it came from. Maybe she could get away with goofing off easier then.

Dinah was mentally critiquing the fight bits, then just snickering at some of the more improbable parts.

Claudia had sooooo wanted to see this in the theater but her parents wouldn't let her see stuff that was rated R.

Ha! Take that, parents!

"I think I could do almost everything if I went blind, once I had some time to get used to it," Romeo ventured.

"I'd be best at getting sympathy," Brooke said. Hey, she was being honest.

"I have a friend back home who's blind," Sokka offered, "and she can 'see' by feeling vibrations with her feet. It's pretty awesome."

He mentioned this as if it were something anyone could learn to do, and not a special ability due to her being the most powerful Earthbender in the world.

Peyton was pretty sure that being blind wouldn't affect her ability to appreciate and recognize pretty much everything musical, but it would kill her not to be able to draw anymore.

"So this is the real kind of blindness," Bender checked. "Not the faking it to get money off popcorn and stuff?" Which he hadn't done.

Really. Not popcorn, just new non-alcoholic-free Slurm.

The movie is horrendously bad, but the fight choreography and execution is awesome!
