Library [01/21]

Sam wasn't about to let a little power outage keep him out of the library. After all, without television or other entertaining electronics, the odds of someone coming in to get a book was a lot higher. At least, that was Sam's hope.

The windows in the library gave him enough light to get by, but he still had flashlights at the desk. A little extra light by which to read was never a bad thing.

It made sense because he was Chuck Bass, duh. He didn't think Sam would get the implications of that so he just shrugged innocently instead. "I don't think I'm acting but I guess it's a matter of opinion."

His opinion was the right one, of course.

His opinion was only the right one when it wasn't the opposite of Sam's.

"My opinion is that the more amazing someone claims to be, the worse they actually are," he said. "A little humility goes a long way."

Sam's opinions sucked. That was just a fact.

"Now don't you think that's kind of judgmental?" he asked, looking amused. See, this is why he came in here today. You can't get entertainment like this from the TV. "I could be just as amazing as I claim to be. You don't know."

"If you were really amazing, you wouldn't mess with Dean," Sam said. That was a fact too, as far as he was concerned. "The two of you might even get along, and then I wouldn't have to dislike you."

"I'm not messing with him. It's just whenever we have conversations they always seem to end in glaring and insults," he clarified. "That's not entirely my fault."

"It's not entirely Dean's fault either," Sam said. "And now I understand why he's so cranky when he talks about you."

"Oh, am I annoying you?" he asked. Because that was always fun. "I apologize."

"Yeah, I really believe that," Sam said. "What do you want from me, Chuck?"

"I already told you," Chuck said. "I just wanted to see you in person. Makes it easier for me to avoid you from now on if I know what you look like."

"Does that mean I won't have to deal with your smugness anymore?" Sam asked.

Chuck smirked. "You know I can't guarantee that."

"At least I won't have to worry about any more of these visits?" Sam suggested.

"That I can agree to," Chuck said. "The library isn't a place I like find myself often."

"Yes, well, between that and your clothes I'd definitely say it wasn't meant to be," Chuck agreed. Which was too bad since Sam was kind of hot. Chuck turned to leave. "I'll be seeing you around, Winchester."

In a school this small that was kind of inevitable.

Sam glared at Chuck as he left, for the slight against his clothes and his attitude in general. "We'll see about that," he said.

It was only after Chuck left that Sam realized why he'd seemed familiar - he was the one who'd left Sam the dirty voicemail on Sunday. Sam found himself squirming a little and feeling even more uncomfortable. If he ended up telling Dean about the visit, he was definitely leaving this part out.
