The Library

Janet unlocked the library and walked in, setting her laptop down warily behind the desk and trying not to think about Hathor the last time she was in here. She took a drink from her extra-large mug of coffee and started working.

ETA: She popped out a moment later and stuck a note up on the door: "New teachers need to check out the Rules of Conduct and fill out a library card application in blue or black ink, damn it. Please come inside for a form. Thank you."

She laughs, and turns to Parker. "Thank you... for everything. I couldn't... possibly even wouldn't have done it without you!

How are you feeling today?"

"You're very welcome. Have fun being powerful and without regrets. I'm so glad I'm out of it."

Parker mutters, "I'm better. Just pissed off." She rolls her eyes at Zero's decaf comment, then says, "No! It's not decaf! But it's all I'm going to have today, okay? One damn addiction at a time."

She grins. "Vice-president isn't traditionally one with much power, but I'll enjoy what I can."

She raises her eyebrow as Parker snaps, and thinks over what she's just said. "Have you given up smoking, or something?"

"Tragically, yes. The smoking is no more. Maybe I should make a general storm warning announcement in the cafeteria later." Parker sighs. "Stupid campaign gave me an ulcer."

Elizabeth looks sympathic. "The perils of politics, unfortunately. And it might be an idea... that way you can claim that you warned them after you've beaten someone for annoying you too much."

Parker suddenly grins. "You know? I think you're right." She looks much more cheerful. "If they've all been told not to tease the tiger...."
