Angela stared at her. "All that from one little tree branch?" She winced sympathetically.

"Maybe you'll have better luck today?" she suggested, holding up crossed fingers.

"Obviously, it was a Fandom tree branch, with is worse than any ordinary little tree branch," said Hoshi with a smirk. "And yeah, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm completely out of clean clothes after these are done."

"Same," Angela admitted pulling a face. "Much as I appreciate the need to take a stand sometimes, this is a little much."

"It's been suggested that talking to them would be nice," Angela said. "The odd 'thank you'."

"Personally, I think this is going to endear people to them even less, but there you go."

"See, and I thought that the worst they could demand was a few extra quarters," said Hoshi. "I suppose I could try talking to a washer, but I'd hate for others to think that I'm nuts."

"I don't think anyone around here would think that," Angela laughed as she looked around at the gathered fashion disasters today.

"Or I could just place an audio device set to continuous playback in the laundry room. It worked the other day on the bathroom stalls," said Hoshi with a shrug.

"Now you're ready for any future strikes," said Hoshi. "Although I'm almost afraid to see what happens next. I never would have thought the vending machines would turn against us."

"I was more worried when my caffeine source went," Angela admitted. "I miss my morning coffee when I can't actually have it without spending ten minutes coddling the machine."

"I hate to break it to you, but during finals last spring, all the coffee on the island turned into decaf," said Hoshi. "I even heard of someone who went off-island to buy regular coffee and when he got back, it was decaf."

Angela frowned. "That's just wrong," she declared. Ew, decaf. If you were going to drink coffee, it really should be the real deal.

"Let's face it. When Fandom wants to mess with you, it knows what buttons to push," said Hoshi. "I've been hear almost two years and it's been one freaky thing after another from the moment I set foot on the island."

"I'm Angela, by the way," she added after a moment, realising she didn't think she actually knew the girl, and names were good and useful.

"I'm Hoshi," she said with a grin. "You know, I was just talking about you the other day with my friend Hurley. I've heard of you and we seem to move in the same social circles, but somehow we've never met!"
