Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
If anyone had hoped for good weather for the picnic, their wish had been granted as the day turned out to be sunny and warm. Everything had been cleaned up, spiffed up and bedazzled dazzled made as perfect as possible for the new arrivals. They deserved at least a few moments of pleasantness before the weirdness started to sink in.
May whatever deity they believed in help them now.
As usual, there were long tables set up with food and drinks, a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students. With everything in place, the picnic was ready to begin.
[OCD is up!! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

He was wearing armor and had a rodent on his shoulder. He had to assume that, yes, Minsc here was entirely sincere.
"So, you're a teacher at the school here, then? What, might I ask, do you teach?"

"Magical... Creatures." It was a somewhat skeptical sort of echo, but at least he was managing words. "Dare I ask what sorts of magical creatures you cover in your curriculum?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2009)
"Although," Minsc added as his arms settled and he patted the pouch apologetically, "this semester and I am focusing only on transformations. It is a very big deal here, don't you know. Very important that the younglings know all about them!"
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2009)
No, not nearly enough.
"Of course. I would hate to think that the younglings would have to live their lives misinformed about the many complexities of turning into dragons." Seeing as they didn't exist, and all.

"You know," he stated, eager to change the subject, "it being my first day here on the island, I could probably use some help finding my way around. Learning the terrain, the local businesses, finding a place to sleep at night. That sort of thing."
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2009)
And then something caught up with Minsc. "Wait a moment. Did you say, Captain, that you haven't a place to sleep at night?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2009)
"I did, indeed. Ending up here was a somewhat unscheduled trip, actually. I didn't exactly have an opportunity to arrange for a place to stay before arriving."
[Headed out for a few hours! Is slowplay alright?]

"I would be pleased and honoured to take you up on that offer." He would be spending a good deal of time at that tavern which the large man before him had mentioned. "Thank you, Minsc."

Clearly.

Nathan took a moment to tug at the bottom of his shirt, straightening it out a little as though there was nothing the matter in the world just then. It was a coping mechanism, really. Ah, denial.
"Well, it's been a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Minsc. You've been entirely too..." There was a word for this, somewhere. He would find it eventually. "Too helpful."
