Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

If anyone had hoped for good weather for the picnic, their wish had been granted as the day turned out to be sunny and warm. Everything had been cleaned up, spiffed up and bedazzled dazzled made as perfect as possible for the new arrivals. They deserved at least a few moments of pleasantness before the weirdness started to sink in.

May whatever deity they believed in help them now.

As usual, there were long tables set up with food and drinks, a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students. With everything in place, the picnic was ready to begin.

"Kick it in," Algren echoed, working on wrapping his head around every syllable of strangeness that came out of Minsc's mouth. "I'll keep that in mind. Perhaps we can arrange for a copy of the key to be made, however. Just to spare on expenses?"

"Oh, of course," Minsc agreed. "But we haven't got any of those quite yet."

Nathan took a moment to tug at the bottom of his shirt, straightening it out a little as though there was nothing the matter in the world just then. It was a coping mechanism, really. Ah, denial.

"Well, it's been a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Minsc. You've been entirely too..." There was a word for this, somewhere. He would find it eventually. "Too helpful."

"Impossible!" Minsc barked a laugh, going to clap a hand of camaraderie on his new housemate's shoulder. "That is what I am here for, Captain!"
