Leadership: Thursday, Period 1, Class 1. (9/4/08)

"Morning everyone," Nathan said. He took a spot at the head of the class. He was, as near darned always, dressed in a suit. "I'm Mr. Petrelli. For anyone here who might be close with my brother Peter, I'm still Mr. Petrelli."

Nathan handed out the syllabus and class rules. "Here's the overview of the class for the semester. Make sure to read it as OOC rules are in there too. Because I'm a lawyer there is the fine print of classes being subject to change at any time.

"Today's class is going to be very easy though. First, I want everyone to introduce themselves with their name and why they're taking the class. Second?"

Nathan sat down behind his desk, looking for all the world like he was done for the day. "Someone needs to be in charge of this class. Let me know if you figure out who that is.

"And Meg? Come see me after class. Thanks."

[ooc: OCD is up! Be sure to read the OOC note as well as the class rules. Thanks!]

"Yeah, I think everyone should get a say," Tony said.

"Yes," Tony said. "I mean, if they want to share their opinions, they can, but they don't get an extra vote. People who think they 'know more' don't always know best."

"I don't know if they do know less," Tony said. "But a lot of times, people who say they 'know more' think they know better than you so maybe they don't even bother to ask what you want. They know what's best for everyone, so why should they listen?" The last came out a little more bitter than he'd intended.

"But it's not the same at all," Tony said. "I mean, you have to take years of school and pass lots of test to do surgery. But legally, all you have to do to be Prime Minister - of Canada," he added, remembering where he was, "is to be 18. So either Prime Minister's less important or leadership isn't something you learn in school."
