Leadership: Thursday, Period 1, Class 1. (9/4/08)

"Morning everyone," Nathan said. He took a spot at the head of the class. He was, as near darned always, dressed in a suit. "I'm Mr. Petrelli. For anyone here who might be close with my brother Peter, I'm still Mr. Petrelli."

Nathan handed out the syllabus and class rules. "Here's the overview of the class for the semester. Make sure to read it as OOC rules are in there too. Because I'm a lawyer there is the fine print of classes being subject to change at any time.

"Today's class is going to be very easy though. First, I want everyone to introduce themselves with their name and why they're taking the class. Second?"

Nathan sat down behind his desk, looking for all the world like he was done for the day. "Someone needs to be in charge of this class. Let me know if you figure out who that is.

"And Meg? Come see me after class. Thanks."

"Without a clear hierarchy?" Agnes asked. "OH, yes."

The few times she'd seen Granny and King Verence clash had been... informative.

"How many is too many?" Nathan asked. "Should there always be one person at the top, or could there be more than one?"

"I couldn't say," Agnes told him. "I've only ever seen one person at the top. Isn't it your job to tell me?"

"Your opinion then," Nathan said, not looking fazed. "In your opinion do you think it's best for there to only be one person at the top?"

"I don't know about better," Agnes replied, "but it certainly makes things simpler. I can't imagine ever getting anything done if every decision had to be voted on. ...On the other hand, having more people might be better protection against stupid decisions."

"Okay," Nathan said. "Thanks for your input. And don't worry, you don't actually have to take over the class."

"Well, that's a relief," Agnes sighed. Then she cocked her head and looked at him oddly. "If you don't mind, sir," she asked, "What's the one thing you'd take out of a burning building?"
